well, that Joementum thing was... weird. It does tie into the "America First" theme quite well though.

Fred is hilarious and heartbreaking and kicking butt. sheesh

Feels like the convention did not truely start till Fred showed up.  :-)

No offense to McCain, but where the HELL was this Thompson when we needed him?????

No offense to Thompson but running a fairly luke warm race. If he entered the race like he is presenting himself tonight we would be watching McCain talk up Fred right now.
Thompson was the only adult running and I don't think he knew how to handle the children but he knew how to handle the press.  I loved when he refused to raise his hand.

I really think the fix was in for McCainez for not jumping ship in 'aught-one.  I wish he had.

Plus too many people were afraid of Hillary.

Now the same people who were afraid of Hillary uber alles are afraid of Obama uber alles which is exactly why it is better to be for someone rather than being for someone because they aren't as bad as the really scary someone.  And if I can't be for someone I would rather not vote at all.  But WE made an excellent point in another thread and that is, if Juan wins Palin will be the guy in '12 or '16, preferably '12.  And that, for me, is something to be for.

she would be the presumptive front runner in '12 or '16 if they win.  in fact, if he wins, she is virtually unstoppable all the way to the white house in one of those two years.  vice presidents always win.

What is a "Reagan Democrat"?

The mushy middle that went almost entirely for Reagan.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

I know some people here like Michael Steele in 2012/2016, but I would prefer Bobby Jindal.

Maybe we should start a poll.

Not really.  :(

The "callers" have started on C-SPAN.  I turned the TV off.  If Keef says something monumentally stupid, it'll get picked up tomorrow.

Is Sen. Coburn speaking tomorrow or was it supposed to be today?

I am flipping back and forth between the dodgers and the "post convention analysis".  I may not get over to MSNBC tonight, either.

I think it depends on McCain.  If he goes back to his "gang of 14" style of governance whilst in office and Palin gets swept up in that, being the loyal Veep, should could loose the base out of the gate.  But if McCain is seen as not-pandering-too-much to the NY Times/liberal side of the aisle then she has a decent shot.  She seems really intelligent though so I don't think that will be an issue.  Still, one never knows how an elected official will act once they are in D.C.

it's all a mater of one's perspective, and how that would change after the election.  a senator probably believes in the preeminence* of the legislative branch of gov't, and acts accordingly.  a president believes in the ascendancy* of the executive, and acts with that view primarily in mind.

the short version is that I am sure he would be a different kind of president than he was a senator.

*when I say "preeminence" and "ascendancy", and am merely referring to a "first among equals" relationship.

Tomorrow should be quite fun to watch. There were times when they were chanting, "Palin!" "Palin!". I can only imagine what that place will be like when she walks up on stage.

And the DUmmies reaction to it would be equally fun to watch.

The schedule is all kinds of messed up.  They have not released tomorrow's speaking engagements or the convention schedule.

I guess we'll have to tune in and hope for the best.  They did a good job tonight, though.

this one from lieberman is getting a lot of play:

Obama will NEVER be able to do great things for this country.

Socialism isn't anywhere close to good for this country.

Thanks! :-)

There are so many good lines...I hope they get played and replayed over and over...and Newt striking back about the "experience" factor was also great.
Tomorrow will be even better...Guiliani is a fast speaker with lots of good zingers.  He will strip you naked without you even feeling a tug.  The Democratic Party will receive an ass-kicking tomorrow when he speaks.
