I was raised pretty poor. I can tell you I prefer where I am in life, but I want given anything.

Non-rich people on what made them feel "Rich"

"Those fridges with the water dispenser on it."

."Being able to buy something you need without having to ask yourself how badly you need it."

."Scheduling regular doctor's office visits or seeing a dentist for anything other than an emergency."

."Eating pizza because you want to, not because it's $2."

"There's a line from Nick in New Girl that describes being well off as 'filling your gas tank up all the way rich.' That was the rich I wanted to be. Comfortable. Also, not having to do math in the grocery store to see what food you can buy. I hated that.

."Having nice teeth that don't cause constant, debilitating pain."

"I'm showing my age here, but having a shower in your house. Back in the day, only people with money had showers. We all only had baths."

"Being able to get a new mattress."

It’s amazing, most seem to have climbed out of the minimum wage hole … I guess they’re just better than those who can’t do it, huh?

27. Couldn't reply there so I'll do it here...

...women wearing all white, especially during their period without a care.

For the rest of us, particularly those with irregular periods, it just was not a thing. We also owned a fair number of black pants to wear 'just in case'

The other primitives take a nice nostalgic trip down the memory lane of their humble upbringings, but this primitive uses it as an opportunity to weird everybody out with some stupid off-topic nonsense.  Is the primitive claiming to have been rich because she owned several backup pairs of dark pants to slip into in the event of a menstrual mishap while wearing white?  The example doesn't make any sense.

Raised up in hard scrabble Scranton, young Joe never would have believed he would one day be able to shit his drawers with impunity and someone would be right there with a fresh designer suit for him to slip into.  Joe has arrived.  He's rich.

And if he happens to shart in his drawers, some lackey will buy him a new suit and boxer shorts lickety split.

We certainly didn't grow up "poor", but we definitely lived on a budget.

Dad did grow up poor.  Left HS to join the Navy during Korea and got his GED.

Mustered out and went to college on the GI Bill, got his ED degree and wound up a school principal.

Mom also came from limited means but not as poor as dad.  Paid her way through college and taught school for 30 years.

Nothing poor around here... family has been better off than most as long as I've heard stories about it. Growing out of poverty is one thing, keeping out of it is another. Learning the value of hard work and smart money management from generations before is just as important.  I'd rather maintain without a story to tell about it.

I am not rich and in fact, grew up lower middle class. However, I have done pretty well in my life (I give the Lord credit for this) and I live comfortably. I am not rich by any means but I guess some may think that I am because I'm not hurting for cash. All that said, nothing makes me feel rich except God's love for me and I would feel that regardless of my financial situation.

I always said when I retire I want to be "comfortable". "Comfortable" to me is defined as 1) I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from, 2) Have a good roof over my head, 3) Have a warm bed to sleep in 4) Heat in winter and ac in summer, 4) No debt (been debt free for 7 years) and 5) Have enough to pay bills with some left over for the bank.

All I get is social security and am able to live comfortably on it. I have friends and family. I'd say from that perspective, I'm richer than a lot of people who have money.
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Many people do not see evil until the gas is flowing into the chamber. That is why they get on the trains in the first place.

" I'm richer than a lot of people who have money."

I'd have to say that's spot on.

If you had 3x the income but were servicing a pile of debt you'd be a lot less at ease.
