Can we all agree that "defund the police" was terrible messaging?

I don't want to "defund the police". Instead I want to reform the police. And it wouldn't take much either. Just 4 things:

1. Strict psychological vetting when they sign up, and pull the abusive jerks out of the force before they become a problem. Also annual psych evaluations.

2. Take away their weapons of war. No one needs armored tanks, bazookas, and sub machine guns to patrol the suburbs.

3. Body cameras. AT ALL TIMES. NO EXCEPTIONS.

4. Hold them accountable in the event that a weapon gets discharged or they injure or kill someone in the line of duty.

That's it. That's all it would take. Don't defund. Reform.

No one literally wanted to do what the dictionary definition says.

Why we couldn't have simply run on police reform I do not know.

But when you say defund, people see get rid of, and few folks actually want that.

It took a bunch of sensible, popular, ideas, and gave them a name that would cause the great majority of people to recoil.

And then we had a bunch of people saying, "defund really means reform", and another bunch of people saying, "defund means defund".

If we had let Republicans choose the description, they couldn't have come up with one that was more harmful to Democrats.

Interesting how they are all running from it now.  Most of them claiming it never actually meant defund and stating no one wanted to see police disbanded.

Don't they remember all the threads they had on their site where people were literally talking about getting rid of the police and how a lot of them went into some revisionist history of policing claiming the police were put together to only run down escaped slaves?  They were all on board at that time ...

And claiming BLM doesn't have the money to hire advertisers/marketers?  Uh, if they weren't spending literally millions of dollars on multiple homes for one of the marxist founders, I'm quite sure they could find a little money.

It was literal defunding and attempts to defund, DU-liars, not "messaging". And it has multiplied crime wherever tried.

We should all just sit down and shut up for a few years.

If the primitive had written something like that, at least one would know they had some grasp of what just happened. Instead, they start trying to figure out how to fix things. They don't listen. They just go into "fix-it" mode without realizing they aren't even bright enough to know the problem

A Caver with a burnable mole could probably spend 5 minutes or less finding DU threads defending the defund-the-police movement and then just posting the links. Their mole would get tombstoned, but the entertainment value .......
