More perspective on the white woman swing from D to R in VA

Virginia 2020 —> White women
50% Biden (D), 49% Trump (R)

Virginia 2021 —> White women
57% Youngkin (R), 43% McAuliffe (D)

A 15-point swing to the GOP with this group.

10. No, just a certain percentage of them that handed the election to Trump in a fleece vest.

CRT and the lack of a Dem response to the bullshit and lies killed us.

35. 🤔...

I'm still a relatively quite a recent DU'r so I don't know what the DUhistory/interactions are with you and fellow DU'rs to say that.

Is it like a given - 'We know some of you (ww) have mostly/or always been with us so you should know we're not talking about you' kind of thing?

If that's so, then, ok I see that. All is well! 👍 👍

Bc being recent here - at first as an older white woman NYC'r who's 1st gen Greek-American mom quite sublimely learned about (not only Southern, but Northern racism as well) resisted, and taught me about racism starting around age 9-10; and from there I learned more by listening to, and reading Afro-American povs, and experiences I do my best to be a real ally. And she would point out things for decades to come. I'm aways learning - that statement doesn't give a friendly atmosphere.

I've never voted Republican, or Conservative since I was in the first year ('71) of 18 yr voters. Have mostly tried to vote the most liberal/progressive people in all these years.
So I'm in that ? 40% +/- of ww and happy to be there.

Seeing that swing along with this info makes sense. Ugh.

7. The phony school issue?

If so, might we learn how to DEAL with such?

OR McAuliffe's BAD 'misspeak' about schools/curriculum/parents?

12. While it's a phony issue, it's also wrong to laugh at it without addressing it.

Or worst, tell parents that they have no rights to decide what's being taught in school (Terry actually said this).

30. How should Mac have phrased it differently?

I do think those comments came off as unpolished and disrespectful. On the other hand it is true that America has a lot of ignorant parents who proudly share their vapidity on Facebook. Thing is: school is to teach kids how to engage with and live in the world around them. Yes sometimes parents need to hold their kids schools accountable...but we need to accept that democracy is too easily weaponized by people work ulterior agendas

Besides, creationism and "abstinence only" are the predictable results of "letting parents tell schools what to teach".

18. As always, Democrats are not only dealing with Republican lies

They are dealing with MSM promoting Republican lies.

Look at the takes - Youngkin was brilliant at making "education' an issue - not that he's lying about CRT.

I've rarely seen them even note that CRT is not taught in any public schools. It's all a game, a horse race.

As always, Democrats cannot make one mistake. McAuliffe's "misspeak" as example.

CNN and MSNBC wanted this R win desperately.

13. They like their racism wrapped in an acceptable package

White women were never going to save the country. They also won't be swayed by trying to save Roe v. Wade. (maybe college educated single white women, but not the rest of them) In their minds, needing an abortion is something that happens to other people.

16. Teaching about slavery or any violence in school, to children and teenagers, is a losing issue which was proved today in Virginia. I am telling the truth and I had one of my posts removed. In addition, I think the Bible should be banned due to it's violent nature and my kids would not be allowed in a church that teaches from the Bible.

Slowly, but surely, I will take off their "Rose Colored Glasses" when they are age appropriate.

And poof went that demographic.

And when the alarm bells started shrieking over it, he doubled down.

No. School is to teach white kids and black kids to hate each other.

Clearly, the only racists in Virginia are the ones with a (D) after their name on the ballot or on the voter history.

Reminder, women, stay on the D plantation.  Don't go getting all uppity and thinking for yourself, that's what the party is for.

That's data, not "perspective". Perspective would be pointing out that McAwful's arrogance wrt parents and schools alienated bunches of D Moms and Grandmothers.

Elleng, you can call it a "phony school issue" all over DU all day long.  It still lost you an election.

Idiots are all over twitter, doubling down on everything.  People are telling them to keep it up, they're doing great.

I certainly hope they do. If the aftermath from next year is anything like today I really need to stock up on some popcorn.
The Democratic party is longest running racist organization in the country. Going strong for over 200 years.
