We apologize for the poor website performance today.
Advertisements [?]As you may know, we upgraded our database server earlier this year in order to keep up with the expected increase in traffic this election year.

It just so happens that last Friday -- the day after Barack Obama's acceptance speech, and the day of John McCain's disastrous VP choice -- was our busiest day since election day of 2006. And our servers handled the massive traffic increase much better than we expected. We had to institute some minor limits on functionality, but overall we were very pleased with the results. We believed that we were probably going to be fine until November.

Or, um... until Monday.

It seems that the double-whammy of Hurricane Gustav and Governor Palin's soon-to-be-grandparent status has hit us even harder than the epic news day we had last Friday. The good news is that our new database server is handling the traffic very well. The bad news is that our three front-end servers are not keeping up with the stress. I suspect that this spike will be relatively short-lived, and we should be back to normal by the end of the day today.

I have instructed Elad to upgrade our three front-end servers as soon as possible. Because today is a holiday, he cannot start the process until tomorrow morning. We hope that we can have our upgrades finished relatively soon so that we will be ready for the next news spike. Which, if the track record of the McCain campaign is any indication, ought to be sometime in the next week or two.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

And while I have your attention: Our hearts go out the members of our DU family who live on the Gulf Coast. Be safe.

Perhaps he'll get round to apologising for the other stuff soon.  :whatever:

The servers are going into overload as the DUmmies furiously pound away on their keyboards venting their hate at someone smarter...prettier and richer than they are.
Liberalism Is The Philosophy Of The Stupid

The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years.  The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

If it walks like a donkey and brays like a donkey and smells like a donkey - it's Cold Warrior.  - PoliCon

Palin has run a state, a town and a commercial fishing operation. Obama ain't run nothin' but his mouth. - Mark Steyn

I haven't been able to get on all day. Me thinks that might be a good thing. :lmao:
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Translation: a fundraiser is in the works. Pony up the cheeto money if you want to keep playing here.

I'm waiting for $kimmer to install some kind of program like they have on arcade games. A screen will pop up that says, "insert $ to keep playing".
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Always the liberal solution to any problem.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
