The Shield
« on: September 01, 2008, 01:50:59 AM »
The final season of what I believe to be the best television program ever aired starts Tues night!  I predict things are not going to end well for Mackey and the strike team.

If (and that is a HUGE if) they go down, I hope they go down shooting!  The Shield is one of the best shows ever!  I hope Shane gets shot like 9 thousands times in the first 10 seconds tomorrow!  Then I hope Lem comes to my house to sit and watch it with me. :hyper:

Wait... so it's better than Six Feet Under?  Better than Rescue Me?  Better than The Wire?

...I've never seen the show, but that's a pretty bold statement.  Should I really go rent the first season?

Rent or buy the first six seasons.  Outstanding show.  I didn't start watching until the third or fourth season and I'm totally hooked.

Excellent show! It is on par with Rescue Me in my book. I can't wait to see how this ends! I've been watching since day one.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. Vonne, you know how I am about my TV shows.  If I say it is an incredible show it is worthy of actually buying the seasons.

Hope the Ending is better than the Sapranos ... (The first 2 seasons of TS  were really good and the Comish deserved the Emmy)

I'm gonna be royally p*ssed if they do anything to Vic other than let him get away scot free with the Armenian mob's money.

He's the best character on TV.... ever. You can't let a guy like that go down. Guy's a murderer, thief, liar, cheater, etc and you still root for him.

Says wonders about the show's writers and Michael Chiklis as an actor.

^how much of that does he have left? Lim (sp??) burned it and I thought he passed along what he had left to his ex.

I need to go watch the last season again to get caught up.

Best show ever. Bar none.

High fives for all the fans.  :cheersmate:

No spoilers now people... I don't have cable anymore and only just finished season six, lol. (longest wait for a release date EVER)

I really think they are going to kill Vic or send him to prison in order to close the story arc properly.  I just downloaded season 6 from iTunes to get current on the plot, the writing and performances on this show are just outstanding.

I've never seen it. The assinine commercials turned me off.

I don't know if it happened on other cable areas but our picture locked up in the very beginning of the episode.  I told my hubby that there were probably 50,000 people screaming WTF!!!!!!!!!? at that same second.

What commercials?

The ones that are shown on Sat. TV. I donno, they just look stupid. I guess it comes from not being able to believe a bald guy looks like a bad-ass.

You have to watch it then.  Vic Mackey is uber hotness and incredibly badass.  I find it so hard to believe that he is the same guy who played The Commish.  Seriously I would not recommend a tv show unless it was far above par.  This is a must see show.

They shoot him TALLER, he's only 5'8... But, on the show he looks huge and BAD ASS!
As to Tuesday's episode: HOLY SHIT! That was AWESOME!

If you haven't gone to FX's website and watched the one on one and group bits they filmed prior to this season, you should.

I would be surprised if he was 5'8".  His daughter who plays his daughter on the show towers over him.  He is still the hotness!

I'll have to check it out.

How does it compare with The Unit?
Those who see their lives as spoiled and wasted crave equality and fraternity more than they do freedom. If they clamor for freedom, it is but freedom to establish equality and uniformity. The passion for equality is partly a passion for anonymity: to be one thread of the many which make up a tunic; one thread not distinguishable from the others. No one can then point us out, measure us against others and expose our inferiority.
-Eric Hoffer, "The True Believer", 1951
