So we went to Asheville today.

We were celebrating an occasion and just wanted to walk around, look at some art, get something to eat outside.

Turns out that they have a city-wide mask mandate, vaccinated or not. Most of the people we saw were masked unless they were sitting down eating. Most of the stores have a box of masks at the entrance with signs saying not to come in if you don't have a mask on.

Well, we went into this one jewelry store. I don't care for the jewelry, but there's a cat who's quite cute and friendly. The owner, artist, whatever she calls herself wasn't masked. We petted the cat for a minute and then my husband said, "I assume you're vaccinated, then?" She snarled, "That's personal health information!" and turned around in a huff, never to speak to us again. We did say goodbye when we left and she didn't reply.

But now I'm mad at myself for not saying, "No, that's actually public health information because we're in a pandemic. Your vaccination status combined with your refusal to wear a mask will likely affect people you don't even know. If you gave a flying ****, you'd at least be covering your unvaccinated mouth to protect your potential customers, as is currently required." Alas, I'm just not quick on my feet.

It sort of put me in a mood, particularly since we go to Asheville to escape the ignorance we live among. For the most part, it's quite progressive. But this was a big slap in the face for me.

I'm sorely tempted to write a scathing review on Yelp because of her lack of respect for the local laws, as well as her lack of concern for her fellow human beings... not to mention that her stuff is overpriced and nothing special, and she's a rude bitch whose beautiful cat deserves a better mom.

So that's my rant. Hold me.

Ok, someone help me here. What does it matter at this point?  Am I missing something??  If you’re vaccinated you can’t spread the virus? WTF?  I’m so confused on what they believe!!

you weren't going to spend any money at her store so she didn't give 2 ****s what you or your self righteous vaccination questioning husband thought about her and gave you the royal brush off.

Hi-5 for the owner, artist, or whatever she calls herself for not playing your stupid virtue signaling game.

I think the cat was probably the greater threat...

DUmbass Piddyprints outs herself as a Karen. No surprise here.

Actually, she's a Mask Karen Wannabe, because she only wishes she'd dropped what she imagines would have been a devastating put-down.

Since we're speaking of thing that might happen, I'll be doing a 5K in central San Jose in a few hours. Under current Santa Clara County regs, masks are optional for such outdoor events. While I was considering wearing one, due to the crud in the air from the fires in the north end of the state, yesterday was very breezy and cleared the air, so I won't. If, while lined up for the start, on the course, or after finishing some rando asks me if I've been vaccinated, I'll tell them it's not their business, as politely or curtly as their attitude shows is appropriate. I have been, as y'all know, but it's not some rando's business.

Knowing the running community to the degree I do, I would be very surprised if anyone did ask. I haven't seen any Karenage on trails, at the live event 3 weeks ago, or in chatter among running FB Friends.

Thanks. Between the 2 distances there were almost 700 runners and walkers. During the line-up waiting for the start I think there was about 60% masking (not me), but that percentage probably dropped to 30%-40% out on the course when people were more spread out. A lot of participants were healthcare workers (it was an event to benefit a medical foundation). I didn't witness any Mask Karenage.

It was a perfect day for a running event, cool overcast, and a light breeze.

My pet theory is that DU posters are masters of esprit de l'escalier- the witty comebacks they think of after the fact. Perhaps they did have some encounter with a right-wing Trump supporter, anti-vaxxer, or what have you, but it didn't go as they now describe it. Instead, the incident eats away at them until their response spills out in some cathartic forum post, Twitter post, YouTube vid, etc. -Me, 7/30/21

42. Susan Marie Designs.

It's near 19 Biltmore Ave., on the same side of the street as Wicked Weed.

Have a safe trip! I've never written a Yelp review before, so I'm a little intimidated. I thought about Tripadvisor, too. Still need to screw up my courage.

She should not be permitted to run a business in a city where she ignores the rules and endangers public health. The stuff she sells is of no interest to us in light of this. We will never go back, even if Covid ever goes away.

Like she is going to miss the $$$$ you will never spend there. :loser: :loser: :loser: :loser: :loser: :loser:

You need to be a realy dour as hole to be like that. I hope her and her hubby get covid and the next cat she pets claws her eyes out. :-)

Having lived in the Asheville area for almost 30 years, I can tell you that most likely the "artist" is a political kook. So in this case, you have kook on kook violence, which matters nothing to me.

Having checked out the owner, I see she's been there for 30 years and is a member in good standing with all the local craft guilds, so she'll be fine. My guess is the primitive tried to talk her down on the price of a jewelry piece, the proprietor didn't bite, and so the primitive made up the mask story.
