From my parents, to my siblings, to my children, and to all extended family. I am the only sane one. They listen to faux news 24/7 and AM talk radio. There is no reasoning with these people. They are off the rails. They think the election was stolen and they worship trump. They think Biden is an idiot but they are speechless when I tell them that Biden and his policies garner a 63% favorabilty for both. I am in a fight right now with both my mom and sister over this....Jeez talk about divide and conquer.... When you can't even reconcile differences amongst family members....the stuff just got real.

Nobody believes SloJoe has anything above a 50% approval rating

How many interviews of Trumpers have you seen where they can barely be understood because they mangle the talking point that was literally drilled into their brain for uncounted hours? About 12 years ago my brother and I got into a yelling match about some random political event. After that I saw the lines form with a lot of my family being revealed as Right-wing Wackos. I got into more disagreements and one final one when my Mother defended them all. I said a silent goodbye and have little contact with any of the family Cons. I have missed a lot in family affairs and being close as we had all been all our lives. Thank FOX, Limbaugh, and their ilk for purposely poisoning their brains. And for my sanity, I had to go incommunicado in-part.

Yeah... YOU have no contact with the rest of the family and it's FOX's fault...   ::)

...my older, like-minded Sister and closest companion, fought cancer during this period and died a few years back. My life is pretty much as an orphan now with a niece and a brother in our camp.

And they make for a strong debate, given their intellectual backgrounds.

But the most consistent quality between all of them, they're self centered.

When they start ranting, tell them you are sick of politics. If they don't stop, walk out. Go for a walk drive somewhere, decompress. When you get back, ask if they're done. Rinse, repeat until they get the point.

You are right that you can't do anything with them if you keep contronting them with facts. That's just not going to work. Depriving them of an audience for their bullshit works a bit better.

Sadly, people have a right to believe whatever soul destroying bullshit they want to. They don't have a right to behave badly and abuse you with it. Grow some boundaries, cut them off, don't put up with the crap, slop over with sugar when they're talking about anything else. I did this with my own parents and it worked.

The only other thing you can do is when they come out with something totally insane, like the Jewish space lasers starting forest fires in Califorrnia, is to ask them who told them a stupid thing like that.. It lowers their defenses by blaming somebody else. Usually they change the subject really fast.

...I hate to say it, but my love and respect for my family trumpers is rapidly disappearing and I can't do anything about it...I can't hold warm fuzzy feelings for rabid trump supporters...and it's gone beyond trump

...even if they're a moderate republican (there are a couple) I paint them with the same brush...for to be associated with anything trump and his control is like being a complacent moderate Nazi in the 1930's...

Snopes and Washington Post (or some such publication) debunked the claim that Trump called coronavirus a hoax, but that hasn't stopped dems from insisting Trump did say that.
