I am angry

I should be happy. McCain picked a totally unqualified running mate.

But I realize why it is that I am angry.

This woman is a reminder of how older, intelligent qualified women are stepped over time and again by the pretty ones. The ones with no qualifications besides breasts and a peppy smile.

We, as women have seen this time and time again since birth. You can be dumb as a rock or mean as a viper and as long as you are pretty, life will treat you well. Those of us who were not blessed with good looks, have to work 100X harder and even then, it's often not good enough.

I am furious that this glorified cheerleader, with no experience, may end up with control if the largest scariest military in the world and no ****ing clue what to do with it.

I am furious.

As a father of daughters, we have fought for our girls to be accepted for their character and not their looks forever.

Someone's got ugly kids.

9. I don't think McCain sees women as equal to himself- and I don't
think he'd choose ANYONE who he would have to ...'compete' with.

He believes he is the 'be all end all' as far as "Commander in chief" goes. He doesn't "need" a Robin to his Batman, and because he HAD to choose, and choose 'something' that would play to the people, and not be a threat to his own ego- he chose her.

There is no other plausible explanation for this.

I'm pissed at Palen, who has the audacity to compare herself as the equivalent of Hillary, simply because they both have vaginas-

She's a fool, and a pawn, and she's smart enough to know what is happening, and willing to go along with it.

What a poor example for her daughters.

Yeah.  That whole 'being the Vice President of the United States'.  What a letdown.  :(

18. Not that we should go around judging people and their worth because of pulchritude...
...but she's (a) not qualified, and (b)you think she's "pretty"?

Someone forgot his dick.  The dem's entire ticket has "not qualified" written all over it.

26. Unfortunately, this is the reason why Hillary will never be president
In four years she'll be 64 and in eight she'll be 68. No way is she going to get the nom at that age. She may have cracked the glass ceiling that keeps women out, but there is another one right above it that keeps older women out. Sorry, but them's the facts.

Wah, wah.  If it's not race, it's gender.  If it's not gender, it's age.  If it's not age, it's something else.

to all hard working, qualified women. He picked the perky cute candidate. He's an idiot.

You can be perky, cute, and qualified.  Too bad your candidates are none of the above.

Man!! She has them terrified! For the first time this election cycle the GOP is getting some positive coverage, and, much worse, it has doused the afterglow of the Obamessiah's (pbuh) coronation.

To paraphrase Evil Belle Michelle, for the first time I'm proud of my candidate.

I'm giving out hi-fives like a rookie who just hit his first home run.

That's exactly it - their views of race and gender equality are being exposed by McCain's choice.

And in any case, who is a DUmmy to get angry by the choice anyone makes? I see your anger, DUmbass, and raise you FURY at your parties' willingness to nominate an inexperienced socialist extremist with ties to terrorists.

But that's all academic now, isn't it? Obama is done.

To a liberal, a woman (or a black man) is nothing more than a round peg or square block made to fill a specific hole to advance the Democrat's political goals.  A community agitator activist and the wife of an ex-President?  Aside from the basic requirements of age and residency, these two are about use useless as tits on a bull.

27. I agree with you 100%, Marrah... and I don't get to say that often enough!
Many well more qualified Republican women were passed over in favor of the young, pretty Sarah Palin. She is not at all qualified and is wrong on SO MANY issues, most glaringly CHOICE.
It's a condescending move, in my opinion. He's expecting disenchanted Hillary supporters to switch over just because he chose a running mate with a vagina... and that's pretty much all she has. As if substance and experience are unimportant to them. As if they will blindly support ANY woman - even if they are bad for American women on all the issues.

I think if I were a Hillary supporter, I might be inclined to work even harder against this ticket. Why should this pretty lady with ZERO experience get a spot that belonged to someone like Hillary or even Libby Dole, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Susan Collins, or pretty much any other woman in Republican politics?

It's a dumb dumb dumb move. I hope it reveals to the fence sitters what horrifically poor judgement McCain has.

By choise, they mean, of course, Do what they tell you to.

Plus, to basically choose her just to get attention and not because of her eligibility, just emphasizes how much he views women as accessories.

51. It's hard to quantify what I feel right now
As a gay man who knows what it feels like to be made out to be something less than human, I'm pissed that McKook would pick a trophy, because it demeans everyone's struggles for equality, and the need to be adjudged on the quality of one's work and one's own character. Sarah's record points to neither. I'm also not surprised and I am at once saddened; look at who he left his first wife for. There's a track record there. Looks, money and someone who'd feed his own personal advancement. Just sayin'.

As a Democrat, I'm relieved, in a guilty sort of way. He couldn't have given us an easier target and he couldn't have made a more desperate choice. I feel a little sorry for Cindy because you know what's going through her mind, too. Lucky for her that it's doubtful that McHasbeen can even get it up any more. But given his lack of fidelity, you know he'd hit it if he still could. History is a pretty good indicator of the future, if one but pays attention.

Yeah, I'll admit to a bit of smugness on behalf of Mittens, Pawlenty (Fall N. Bridges, I love that), and Arkansas' own Jubilation T Cornpone to be passed over -- their experience (and dirtiness) passed over for a trophy (whose lack of experience is made up for by a surprising amount of dirtiness in such a short amount of time -- filth and corruption, thy name is Republican). Part of me wants so badly to say they had it coming for their own nastiness. But I won't. Not just yet, anyway.

Such a desperate move can only be a visible sign of the impending spectacular implosion of what's left of the party of greed, corruption, graft, war, hatred, bloodshed, violence, nastiness, bigotry, sexism, false prudery, family values that plays out in hookers' bedrooms and men's room stalls, filling Jesus' mouth with volumes He never once said, and all-out, full-tilt idiocy.

To paraphrase Bette Davis: One should never say bad things about the dead. One should only say good.

The Republican Party is dead.

Good.

I smell fear....and a lot of BO over at the DUmp.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Isn't it amusing that they castigate McCain for picking her based on her looks in lieu of other qualifications when it is they that are using that same bias to make assumptions about her experience and intelligence. What a bunch of dolts.

Oh and DU, I'm about to graduate college with a 4.0 in another semester and this after not doing so bad in the world of finance as a young woman. It's not an either or proposition: be attractive or be smart or be 'perky' and unless you went under a knife, no woman picked the kind of boobies she'd end up with.

So you're saying your mother and grandma are so stupid they need an explanation from YOU? How insulting is that? What could you possibly explain that they can't figure out for themselves? Were YOU even remotely responsible for this choice so that you OWE them an explanation? So you've decided to reduce your explanation to looks? How shallow...but that's the left in a nutshell...if it's not white or has a vagina it's supposed to look/act a certain way right?

If she can't fit into the angry harpy collective she must be shallow eye candy? Well, how about this you superficial little (emphasis on little) prick...perhaps, just perhaps, her being pretty hasn't been the cake walk you think. Sometimes "pretty" can work against you. If those around you harbor stereotypes about "pretty" (i.e. they're stupid, airhead, superficial, getting by on their looks, back, etc.) it's a guarantee you're going to have to work harder to get people to see beyond your looks. But I'd guess since most of the women you know are not much more attractive than your hairy ass you probably can't relate.

How about this...tell your mom and grandma (and just about every other woman you know) to smile more and try to see the glass as half full. You'd be surprised at how much more beautiful you are by having a healthy, positive outlook on life. Oh, and aren't you being a tad bit chauvinistic judging a woman by her looks? Someone needs to put your testicles back in her lock box because, clearly, you aren't ready for prime time.
