Could be cool. I think today's announcement will be quite the shocker and I do hope in a good way.

In 1984, Palin was first runner-up in the Miss Alaska beauty pageant after winning the Miss Wasilla contest earlier that year, winning a scholarship to help pay her way through college.[3][5] In the Wasilla pageant, she played the flute and also won Miss Congeniality.

Details of Palin's personal life have contributed to her political image. This is the type of "maverick" thinking that I really like!  

On Fox & Friends this morning, Bob Beckel was in on the discussion.  As Palin's name was being mentioned, he didn't look happy.  My wife observed that his look said, If it is Palin, the Democrats are screwed.  I love it.

Now I suggested Sarah Palin as VP pick the other day, but WE and franksolich talked me out of it. If I were a gambling woman I'd have put a few pounds on her.  :-)

I don't know much about this woman. Saw a bit on her site and On The Issues so she's pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, pro-2nd Amendment, pro drilling in ANWR and all that, so that's good. I think if McCain were to pick a woman for veep, it'd be to secure the disgruntled Hillary supporters, but it could backfire on him. I'm still hoping he picks Romney.

I had read that she had also filed suit against the US Govt for violation of state's rights because she wants to drill ANWR. She alleges that the US Govt is hurting the economy of her state and that oil is Alaska's. I'm pretty pleased with this pick !!
