the text of the video, and the response from the obama campaign:

Quote
"Senator Obama, this is truly a good day for America," McCain says in the ad, speaking to his rival. "Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed. So I wanted to stop and say, congratulations. How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow, we'll be back at it. But tonight Senator, job well done."

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe -- who did not know the content of the ad until we read him the script -- just told us that the McCain ad is "a very nice gesture. We appreciate that. I wish more of his ads had that tone. But for tonight we appreciate it and will congratulate him next week on his nomination."

great idea him keeping to the high road.  there are plenty of pit bulls to chew BHO's ass and it takes the big arrow out of BHO's quiver.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

I think this is really brilliant.  Still, everything between me and McCainez is each thing as it comes.  He's been doing a pretty good job lately except for those moronic "Joe Lieberman" trial balloons.

I think he has much to prove but he has been doing a pretty good job for a few weeks now.

Still haven't decided if I can vote for this turkey but he's doing a not bad job, finally.  I think he finally gets the press isn't going to  be on his side like when he was trashing his own people and base.

He's slow but he shows a capacity for learning.

"well done" is the highest praise possible in the Navy over normal traffic.

this was a magnificent gesture, and it shows the character of our nominee.

This certainly was nice of McCain, but Obie had better look out tomorrow because McCain will be out for blood.

it's not about tomorrow.  I just admire what he said TONIGHT.

look, I hate the guy's politics.  I voted against him in an early (SC) primary.  but you CANNOT dismiss
the way he goes about his business.

I think McCain will leave O in the dust. O will not be able to debate McCain and will look like the 143 day Freshman Senator he really is. McCain was not my first choice either but he will be a darn sight better than Obama.

I think that this video is perfect as it describes our candidate.

he never perfect, sometimes right, often irritating, but he always acts with HONOR

I would classify McCain as Eisenhoweresque. He reminds me of Ike a bit. Look at some old you tubes and they have some of the same mannerisms.

The one thing the hateful left can NOT deal with -- class and honor.

McCain's use of kryptonite was masterful!!

If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

Excellent gesture by McCain.

What is so historic about this day?

Thanks.  I thought that might be the case.

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

And the Obama came out right after McCain's pick of Palin and was just as classy!
