DENVER COLISEUM - Police may escort veterans on their protest march to the Pepsi Center at about 3 p.m. The Iraq Veterans Against the War plan to deliver a letter to the Democratic National Convention following the Rage Against the Machine concert.

"We are willing to be arrested, but the police may actually lead us in," said Jeff Key, who has been chosen to read the letter.

"The police have been remarkably willing to help us," said the former Marine and president of the Salt Lake City chapter.

Addressed to Obama, the letter asks the presidential nominee to consider the protest group's "three points of unity:" to bring troops home from Iraq, to restore the Iraqi community, and to guarantee complete healthcare to veterans.

Using diagrams and posters, the veterans continue to plan their march backstage as they sit on the concrete floor. Military formations will be used and held at attention, and some veterans said they plan to brandish American flags.

Members of Rage Against the Machine said they will join the march.

21. Police block off streets to protesting veterans
 Source: Rocky Mountain News

07:37 p.m., August 27, 2008

A large number of police and sheriff's officers in riot gear have blocked off Market and Speer streets in a continuing and seemingly escalating confrontation with Iraq war vets who have been protesting all day.

Negotiations between officers and vets have not made progress. Veterans are frustrated that officers will not allow them to sit in the street, deeming it an escalation of the protest.

The vets continue to try to get a letter read by Barack Obama or one of his aides. It is unclear if any progress has been made. "Our plan is to stay here" until obama reads the letter, said former Marine Lance Cpl. Jeff Key.

"I believe he is a good man. I believe he wants to read my letter," said Key.

While officers stand on Speer, a large number of cops in riot gear have closed the intersection. More than a dozen are overlooking the intersection in Cherry Pickers and several are on a SWAT vehicle.

A large number of spectators have gathered around the scene while a still larger group of original protesters who marched from the Denver Coloseum remain as well.

...and they say the MSM isn't biased.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

I can't wait to see this march. Bravely led up front, arm-in-arm, by John Eff'n and TomInTib.

Going to the Pepsi Center?  Why?  The Obamassiah has left the building and moved to the sports arena, and the Obamassiah isn't going to allow this group to get anywhere near his Holy Coronation.
