Speaker Pelosi needs to unleash the Kraken of the Oversight Committee on this USPS sabotage.

NOW!
They need to haul everyone's ass up to the Hill to testify in open committee on TV in front of everyone.
I know we are close to an election but it needs to be done.

This corruption can't be allowed to continue and Democrats need to FIGHT like a ****ing cornered wolverine over this issue for the citizens of this nation.

That's how we win in Nov., By standing for something and getting to bottom of this corruption.

Lastly, let me say this, if it was us doing it the GOP wouldn't even bat an eyelash before 87 committees were investigating and holding meeting live on TV.

Oh, wait... they all went home until September...

 :whatever:

57. Who specifically, and on what specific charges? I assume you are a lawyer, since

you speak with such confidence about something that they can do, but clearly either refuse to do, or don't know about.

Go on. I'm interested to know what a legal expert has to say.

66. Just because you have little to no faith in Democratic leaders doesn't mean that

everyone else feels the same.

And their constituents expect to see them at home at some point. That PR battle is neccessary to keeping their seat.

Also, as someone else has pointed out: For clarification the Committee can meet. At this time last year there was another mass shooting. Mr Nadler called the House Judiciary Committee back to DC to hold hearings and come up with some legislation. Also, there is no vacation in Washington. The House is not in recess. The house came in at 2pm today and will be in session next Tuesday and Friday. They come in to ensure the President can not recess appoint people.

8. Vacation is cancelled.

This is not the time for a month-long vacation, the country is on the brink of becoming a fascist dictatorship.

43. Um... there is an election in November. Do you think that they are getting manicures and tans?

If they don't meet with constituents, how do you propose they will get elected?

Do you think they don't have access to a phone or email?

11. Every single House member is up for re-election in November.

They’re currently in their home districts, campaigning, and they won’t be back until mid-September.

We’re sorry. The Kraken is unable to come to the phone at this time. Please leave a message. Beep.

19. If our folks really want to get re-elected they better get back to DC.

13. The guilty parties would ignore subpoenas

Oversight has become toothless. I don't know if we can solve this problem in the future with legislation, but we don't seem able to do anything about it while the GOP controls the White House and Senate.

14. How is it even possible for some corrupt, mobbed-up thug like Trump to install one of his top campaign donors as Postmaster General, fire the USPS' top leadership and replace them with more sleazy Trump henchmen, then openly admit to sabotaging our federal mail service just to **** with the presidential election, and still no crimes have been committed?

Reviewing 18 U.S. Code Chapter 63, Mail Fraud and other Fraud Offenses, it's obvious a number of these laws have been violated by Trump and his henchmen. Are our laws so toothless and poorly written that a cheap con man like Trump can subvert the USPS with impunity? Are we already living in a god damned dictatorship?

Maybe because none of that shit actually happened...

64. I don't believe that anyone predicted that the POTUS would use their authority to destroy the Post Office.

And I think that his advisors knew this and took advantage of it.

Elections have consequences, and we are seeing those consequences now.

Women, LGBTQs and POC have been dealing with legislators destroying lives and ****ing with their rights with impunity for decades, and have been told by self-described 'progressives' that those are just "identity politics."

So some have been living in something close a god damned dictatorship of sorts for a while. Those mass protests didn't come from nowhere.

Now, get over the shock as quickly as you can and get to work getting out the vote, because there is no manager that you can demand to talk to who can make all this comfortable and familiar again.

Voting him out is the only way to stop him at this point. We know that there is no way to remove him otherwise, no way he will resign, no way that Pence will invoke the 25th, and even if SCOTUS and Barr weren't in his pocket, there would be nothing Congress can do to take away his power over the Post Office - yes there are lawsuits pending, and the Union is on it, but there is nothing that will stop him prior to January.

Welcome to what it feels like to be powerless in the face of oppression.

It's just one more excuse you ****s will use to claim why you lost rather than you are a bunch of ****ing idiots. Last time it was Russia...

24. How does she do that when Congress is in recess?

30. She has a phone and a computer, yes?

And no, it's not a vacation during an election year for Congress.

Reps need to have town halls, meetings and events in their districts if they expect people to turn out and vote for them in November.

36. She and the Oversight Committee are in recess. I've never heard of committee hearings taking place

during a recess, have you?

26. On the bright side, this is so transparently corrupt it's BLOWING UP on the GOP

Everyone is outraged!! They know corruption, cheating, weaseling, stealing when they see it. They did not count on the difference between 2016 and 2020. This time around we know what to look for. 2016 no one knew how they were cheating. This time they're more brazen about it and think we won't fight back.

Once again, it's all fake news...

32. Our Senators and Reps

need to be holding meeting to stop the dismantling of our USPS. ****ing tRump needs to feel our wrath.

69. well different organizations have been warning all of us plus our Congress to keep funding the post offices, but here we are blatant in your face, we are taking away your right to vote and taking our method of counting ours votes away. Not only mailing our votes, but all functions of our postal service, from getting medications to receiving social security checks. This is an assault on our rights.

Organizations have been pleading with citizens and effing Mitch McConnell to fund the postal service, but no, he has not brought it up for additional funding and Democrats have been voicing their concerns. He has shown us he does not care about the American people.

Regarding the "wrath" that I refer to, that it will be up to ALL of us to VOTE, no matter what, and to have our vote counted.

Quote
Star Member ehrnst (31,576 posts)

75. OK, so that clarifies some things.

But what is it that you think Congress has power over in the Post Office - other than to submit a bill with funding for it, which they have?

POTUS appoints the head of the service, and most of the board of governors. You might as well complain that Congress didn't present an alternate SCOTUS nominee for all the good that will do.

Congress did submit funding, but POTUS is free to veto any bill that comes across his desk, no matter how much of an asshole reason he has.

Other than voting Trump and the GOP out of the Senate, and keep the House, what do you propose will stop Trump from vetoing any funding he doesn't like?

Congress does not fund the Post Office.

Bring it! But make sure it uses Schifftyroo Rules to keep out the documentary evidence that these changes have been in planning for a year or two and are an attempt to stop losing $$.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.
