Obama says McCain's Service Not Enough
« on: August 27, 2008, 03:46:49 PM »

good luck selling that one to mililtary families, barack. :whatever:  and of course, we see the cheap rhetorical gimmick
of praising mccain for his service and then declaring it irrelevant . . .

I think "gets it" is  going to be a big theme in tomorrow night's speech.  he has been trying it out all week.

Quote
OBAMA SAYS MCCAIN'S SERVICE NOT ENOUGH

BILLINGS, MT -- Obama told a group of veterans and military families here today that McCain’s long career of service was not enough to earn their votes, arguing the Arizona senator would not fight for ordinary Americans.

“I honor John McCain’s service to our country, You know, he served in uniform with honor and distinction,” he said. “We owe him gratitude for that. But we don’t owe him our vote."

He then laid out what he said would be the choice in this election, saying McCain’s tax policies and his plans for the economy would leave average families out.

“Do we have a president who gets that people are struggling everyday, who gets that veterans are struggling everyday? Or do we have somebody who doesn’t get it?,” he asked. “Who wants to give more tax cuts to the big corporations including Exxon-Mobil? $300 billion worth, while leave 100 million people without any tax relief whatsoever?”

The senator was introduced by Sen. Jon Tester, who will fly with him to Denver this afternoon. And Obama praised Gov. Brian Schweitzer for his convention speech last night -- and again complimented Hillary Clinton as well as his wife, Michelle.

“We’ve had a great convention so far. We’ve got -- we’ve had two powerful women speak back to back on each night with Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton," he said.

In summation, "Obama told a group of veterans and military families that their service didn't mean shit".  ::)

So long as BHO's 146 days of service in the Senate are not enough to earn our vote then I guess we're even.

I'd pick McC over BHO even if he never served a day in uniform even if BHO had served decades in one.  That being said, BHO would not be the pissant he is had he ever served a day of real work in his life.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

I always hoped He would "Go There" but I didn't think he had the balls and/or the crazy required to do so. Its obvious to me that the Obamessiah has surrounded himself with Yes-Men who have told him that his message sent from the heavens was enough to overpower anything.

Anyway Congrats Obama - You just made McCain's service an issue. I hope your stellar military background will be enough to mitigate it.  :loser:

...and NOT just in front of some of his kook supporters, in front of MILITARY veterans and retirees. This fool needs to fire his handlers.

This campian of the big O's went into a nose dive the second he picked Bidet as a VP. President McCain is going to love the new digs at the WH.

Well...

...he did minor in foreign affairs and travel extensively for his undergraduate degree.

Obviously that makes him pre-eminently qualified as opposed to some guy that ostensibly sat on his ass for 6 years during the Vietnam war. :sarcasm:
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Wesley Clark early on made a wisecrack about McCain's service days and was torn to shreds by the media. Not to mention laughingstock of the USA. Can't recall the remark but it was some time back.
