As a wife, I would have talked long and hard to my husband about doing something underhanded, like run for office knowing he had skeletons in his closet. I would never, never have gone public with his secrets. Never. I don't blame Elizabeth at all.
There is a big difference between smiling up and supporting a slimeball in his ridiculous effort to become president of the United States and "going public with his secrets". Elizabeth Edwards should have stopped the trash in his tracks. She did wrong when she continued to try to subject the rest of the nation to this slime pus ball.
Elizabeth Edwards could have just withdrawn her support. Instead, she continued to be a cheerleader. That makes her as slimy as him.
We aren't talking about the coach of a local Little league. We are talking about the leader of the free world.
If she couldn't talk him out of it, she had 2 options...go along with him, or do something radical to stop him. Now think a minute...we all know what kind of lawyer this guy is. Elizabeth may well be dying of cancer...and leaving behind 2 kids. If she ticked him off enough, what would happen to her, and her health care, and her medical costs? It may be that her main choices were to go along and try to live to see her kids grow up...or cross him, and watch him take the kids and her only chances of survival. Remember, in many states, even solid proof of adultery wouldn't go far to fight him in court.
I still don't blame her. Besides, if he had been nominated, this crap would have made McCain a shoe-in.
