did these people learn NOTHING by the phony presidential seal that they used one time, and had to instantly get
rid of it because it looked presumptuous and arrogant?  what is WRONG with the people running his campaign?
they are not only repeating the mistake of the germany speech, now they are putting him in front of a replica
white house to deliver it, as though he has already won the election.

he is going to tank after this.  the strutting, pompous ignorance of the obama campaign is about to nail the coffin
shut on itself.

and I didn't know that kennedy delivered his acceptance speech from a stadium . . . so, the germany speech and
now this . . . both of them are cheap imitations of john f kennedy.  this guy doesn't stand for change, he stands
for ripping off the playbook of people that have come before him.

DENVER (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.

Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president.

He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.

The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.

Politicians in past elections have typically spoken from the convention site itself, but the Obama campaign liked the idea of having their man speak to a larger, stadium-sized crowd not far from where the Democratic National Convention is being held, at the Denver pro basketball arena.

Obama was taking a page from the campaign book of John Kennedy in 1960 when the future president delivered his acceptance speech to 80,000 people in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

as I thought it would be, but it is still ridiculous.  the footage of the stage begins at the 4:00

Republicans, who mock Barack Obama as a self-appointed divine savior, gleefully pounced Thursday on pictures of the set for his big convention speech, which appears to resemble a temple.

The Democratic presidential candidate will accept the party White House banner before a more than 70,000-strong crowd at an outdoor football stadium here late Thursday.

Pictures and an aerial film footage of the set being constructed for the speech show a curved backdrop with creamy, gray column-like structures, which could suggest Washington architecture, or a classical structure, like a Greek or Roman temple.

Republicans sent out an edition of their "Audacity Watch" email newsletter which they use to point out perceived examples of hubris by the Obama campaign, titled "The Temple of Obama."

McCain also featured the structure on a blog on his website.

apparently, there are two of them, but the republicans aren't turning it into a political stage prop, it's being displayed at a festival of some sort that is being held in conjunction with the GOP convention, but not run by the republicans, and certainly not being run specifically by the candidate's campaign, which is doing all of the staging at The Super Stadium Speech:

On Sunday, Aug. 24, he delivered the second replica to the Minneapolis Convention Center, where he is now working to stage it and get it ready for display. The replica will be on display as part of CivicFest, which is scheduled from Aug. 29 through Sept. 4, in conjunction with the 2008 Republication National Convention.

Member hauls two Air Force One replicas to political conventions

OOIDA member Donald Snare said he received some puzzled looks from people this past week as he headed down the highway with his oversized cargo consisting of a full-scale replica of the fuselage of Air Force One.

He said there was one incident involving a guy who hit the car in front of him in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Salina, KS, where there was a reception for one of the aircraft replicas. The motorist couldn’t stop looking back at the airplane.

“I sure have gotten some looks from people as I pass by. They kind of have this look of disbelief on their faces,” he said.

Snare was charged with delivering two Air Force One replicas – one to Denver and one to Minneapolis – to coincide with the two national political conventions. A second Air Force One replica was created in a month’s time so a model could be on display at both the Democratic and Republican conventions.

Both have now been safety delivered, according to Snare. He delivered the first Air Force One replica on Tuesday, Aug. 19, to Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, which is where it is expected that Barack Obama will accept the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

They don't use the 707/VC-137 for Air Force One anymore.

The VC-137s are still in service though, last I checked.

yeah, I noticed that, too.  it's the nixon era air force one.  they realize that in minnesota, where it will be displayed in a nonpartisan festival called civicfest:

Exhibits like president Ronald Reagan's limousine, formal gowns worn by first ladies past and present and an Air Force One replica.

"As it was during the Nixon administration and visitors can tour through," said Fernstrom, about the Air Force One replica.

Has anybody read the "Left Behind" series of books .....fictional books based on the Book of Revelations.

It's been several years since I read it.....but I seem to remember the Anti-Christ announcing his "Supreme Being" in a huge stadium in front of a temple.

Kind of a creepy resemblance to tomorrow night's activities.
