Howcum the Republicans are SO much better Than Dems at messaging?

I’ve been watching the Lincoln Project ads. They’re terrific. Perfect actually. And yet for all the years I’ve been watching Dem ads railing against the same miscreants, we have never been able to hit the nail on the head the way they can. That a Forced Retirement Senate ad is remarkable. Paced perfectly and WHAM!

When I was young my mother of blessed memory told me that it was the Coolidge Campaign that figured this all out in the beginning and they have been refining the tactics for generations.

A great Dem Ad, that of the atomic bomb going off while the little girl picked at the flower was pulled because it was too harsh. Too bad.  the Republicans would have doubled down. We never learn. The Rethugs hated that MCCAIN said that OBAMA was a decent family man. This is anathema to them. It should be for us too then. Kick them when they’re down and stomp them some more after that. Nothing and no one is off limits.

they would never be able to sell unpopular and damaging ideas to voters without their brilliant messaging and marketing skills. We would be served well recruiting some of those people into dem party to focus on negative campaigning.

Essentially the Republican party is a bunch of snake oil salesmen at the top, and rubes to be fleeced at the bottom. It's why Trump was such a perfect fit for them. It's also why there's no friction between the most immoral president in history and so-called "Christian" leaders on the right. They are birds of a feather, and they recognize that in each other.

they are better at calling out their own because who else would know more about it?  I have no problem with scorched earth on those who most deserve it, but remember the Gandhi saying "An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind" - at some point we have to pull back and just let them burn themselves into the ground.....

it's obvious no matter what Dump's 'advisors' tell him he doesn't listen, and if they tell him too many times he just fires them and hires more syncophants. What we have to do - like Adam Schiff and others have been - is just stay strong, keep telling the truth no matter what, and karma should take care of the rest - if everything doesn't go up in flames first.....what we really need to do though is get the true Himmlers like Miller, DeVos and Barr outta there - I'm surprised Pompeous is still there, quite honestly....

90% of the media that is more than willing to blast their messages 24 X 7 X 365 so that their talking points become the very coin of the realm for political discussions.

Even such reputed "neutral" purveyors such as NPR most always use the Republican points as the basis for their news stories and commentaries. They frequently go to places like the Heritage Foundation for "experts" while never identifying that such places are right wing.

I live in Iowa. Any radio station I can get is right wing or NPR. I have no choice. The newspapers lean right to very right and the TV stations are all owned by out of state RW companies. The closest Lefty radio stations are in Minneapolis or Chicago.

Even the cable systems are overloaded with RW stations vs anything close to liberal (MSNBC is split) The only truly lefty cable station is Free Speech TV which few people have heard of.

So with RW sources blasting at most of us all day and the fact that most of us have very little political filtering, we tend to accept the RW crap that is thrown at us as the norm.

I was raised Catholic. We only had Catholic friends and participated in Catholic activitiesSince the only information I ever got was Catholic, I was just totally Catholic as the only way until I accidentally stumbled outside that box. That is the dilemma we have in this country. The right has such a chokehold on the media it is hard to find anything else unless a person actively seeks it.

8. Our side doesn't seem to value marketing and I don't know why!

We've let the right frame the debate for so many decades now, we are seriously behind the eight-ball. Most of rural America has a negative opinion of democrats, thanks to over 30 years of right wing hate radio, which has gone completely unchallenged by our side. Ask rural America what republicans stand for and they will tell you the GOP is the party of God, of family values, of small government, and of fiscal conservatism. Democrats on the other hand, are godless socialists, who want to take your hard earned money and give it to uppity women for abortions and lazy minorities who don't want to work. Doesn't matter that none of that is true, they've heard it on radio for most of their lives. And now they hear it on Fox and read it on right wing hate sites.

Our side dropped the ball big time on messaging and I don't see any move to fix that oversight anytime soon. What the ****?

10. Easy to message with LIES!!

Truth hurts, and people DO NOT want to listen to it! They would rather let their Grand-Ma or Pa die and blame the Dems!!!

12. Owning most of the media outlets

makes getting your message across much easier.

Having a near unlimited cash spigot, courtesy of a gaggle of millionaire and billionaire backers, allows them to hire the best spin doctors and social media maestros.

Dominating talk radio provides an unchallenged platform to get their views across.

Last but not least having religious figures promote you from the pulpit and via books and tv broadcasts helps keep the sheep in line.

How the 'f' did repugs convince the public that John Kerry a man who volunteered to go to Viet Nam for his country was a coward, while george bush and trump who lied to get deferrals were the brave ones?

18. It's like what I heard when I had to take jail school for a job in a sheriff's office.

You, the employee, are there for your shift and then you spend the rest of your time dealing with spouse, kids, bills, groceries, doctor’s appointments—all the stuff of real life. Any inmates who are inclined to mess with you have all their waking hours to think of ways to make your life miserable.

I think most Democrats genuinely want to fix problems and want the country to run well for everyone. Campaigning is merely a necessary evil to put them in a position to do that. When we get a big win, like Obama winning the White House, they want to focus on getting things done. Continuing to do lots of media appearances or go after Republicans is not an effective use of time.

Republicans, on the other hand, are not interested in fixing anything. All they care about is interfering with what Democrats are trying to accomplish. They can spend all their time working on messaging and media appearances, because they’re not trying to accomplish anything else.

Republican message: We want you to share in America's prosperity. We want you to provide for your family, make more money, and build wealth!

Stupid person: I want to provide for my family, make more money, and build wealth!

Republican message: Here's how we do that... loosen some of those stringent business regulations to make it easier and less costly for you to start a business.

Stupid person: Ok, I'm down. I want it to be less costly for me to start a business!

Republican message: Let's cut taxes so that the businesses can invest more in the USA, create more high quality jobs, and raise wages and give bonuses.

Stupid person: Hell yeah! I want my raise and hopefully, I get a bonus. More people can have jobs! This is awesome!

Republican message: We should not raise the minimum wage because it would increase costs for businesses. To decrease costs, they would cut jobs or ship them overseas to cheaper labor markets.

Stupid person: I agree! I don't want my job at risk.

Republican message: That American dream is just around the corner if you work hard enough!
Real message: Work tirelessly for the wealthy and be grateful for the scraps they decide to give you.

WHAT????  Conservatives MIGHT have 1/3 of Fox (and all of Talk Radio of course).  But all the other main networks, news networks, print media (newspapers and periodicals) are WAY to the Left.  And you can toss in ALL the so-called "fact checking" sites and polling companies.

On the contrary. Democrats have very effective propaganda, er, "messaging". How else do you explain Andrew Cuomo having such a high approval rating with the crisis in his state? How else do you explain the fact that people actually expected the Mueller report to bring down Trump? The dems' talking points are full of hypnotic language, probably forged in focus groups. Many of their positions sound intuitively true and have superficial appeal, such as taxing the wealthy more, banning guns to reduce violence, and providing free college and health care.

It actually requires some effort to see leftists' childish, privileged politics for what they are.
