What kind of name is Gustav for a hurricane?  :???:

Doesn't look like FL is going to dry out much before it gets hit again.... :o
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

From the current projected path, looks like Florida will not be affected, except for the Keys...This storm is heading into the gulf....at a 3 or higher..and no one wants to say it on TV...but looks like New Orleans is it's destination.. :o

It could hit Cat 5.  Think of that:  a Cat 5 hurricane with N'awlins in its sights, the week of the RNC.

I talked with a friend this morning....her husband does FEMA contracted cleanup. He's a geologist and oversees removal of hazardous waste materials from disasters and ground stability from floods, etc. He's currently in Indiana doing flood/tornado cleanup.

She said he's been told at work that if Gustav hits NO they will be in a world of deep do-do. The city has no new disaster preparations and is totally unprepared for a hurricane of any strength....let alone a cat 5. He spent 4-5 months in NO after Katrina.

He's expecting his company to send him to FL in the next few weeks.

Last map I saw, showed Gustav being a cat 3 as it is to the SW of Key West, by Friday or sooner. :o

So basically nothing has changed in almost 4 years?

Any guesses as to whom they will blame...again?

I bet FEMA, the National, and State Guards are already moving into the area.  Let's see if Blanco lets them in into the state this time.

Well ....in that case ...it's a great name!

Hmmmm....my cats probably won't be considered...2 are after alcohol, one chocolate, and one a Disney princess (my daughter's cat we re-adopted when she moved out without the cat) .... :-)

I hope the NGPS isn't right. That's my fishin' hole.

As for Nawlins', Jindal has already started preparing. Where's the Chocolate City Mayor? Somewhere in Denver, no where to be found.  :whatever:

Impressive that Jindal is already talking about preparedness.

With Katrina....they started what? the day before?

Good ole Nagin has probably already hightailed it out to make sure he and his are safe... ::)

I haven't heard any different...but that doesn't mean they are.

I thought they moved there so the kid(s) would have a safe school environment. :whatever:

they were so wrong about the track of fay . . . maybe this one won't get into the gulf.  if it does, you're right, it will be a mess wherever it goes.

I'm just hoping it doesn't head to Houston/SE Texas...though I wouldn't mind my family visiting me for my birthday next week.  LOL!

Still has NOLA as a bullseye on the weathermap. Remember, the last NOLA  storm was a 100 year storm. I think the Nagin is so stupid he  thinks they come only once every 100 years rather than there's a 1% chance each and every year. So he figured he'd be gone by the time another came by in 21 whatever.
