Bummer, asdf.  Hope you kick whatever it is you have quickly!

Last day of summer vacation here....which means I get to beat on the kids to make sure all their clothes are washed, etc, and their rooms are clean.   :-)   It's a cloudy, probably rainy day here, anyway.   I'll probably bake some cookies or something later for lunches.

Aww, asdf..get better!!!

Flame, quiet time for you tomorrow! We are on day 3 of school here. So nice to be able to go work out in the mornings now since I can put the youngest in the daycare there for a bit. Frees up the rest of my day and the night.

Nothing much here going on...like I said, getting ready to head out and work out, heading to the campus to get my petition to graduate approved(woot), to Lowe's to get some paint, and then back here to do some cleaning. Not sure about dinner yet.

We are on day 3 of school here. .

Same here. Son came home after the first day fussing about what a waste it was, no teaching. They just did (according to him) touchy-feely stuff like, what's your name, what's your hobbies, what do you like, what did you do this summer, hug your classmates, etc., etc.. He was pissed, said, "I go to school to learn something. I already know everyone in my class and what they like......DANG LIBERALS." ....and hey, I didn't make him that way. He got like that all on his own........ :rotf:

That right there ought to be good enough evidence that liberalism ain't worth crap. Eight years in a liberal government run school system and they produce a flaming rightwinger...... :rotf: I'm proud of the boy..... :-)

Well, now wait a second. This may be a difference between boys and girls. My daughter likes the first few days of school precisely for all the procedural, get to know people, social thing. Always has and she says the boys do tend to roll their eyes and look bored so I think it could be a difference in the sexes and absolutely nothing to do with liberal versus conservative.

Plus, I'm not sure what grade he is in, but my oldest just started middle school so she's seeing the merging of 2 schools and half of a 3rd into one. There ARE a lot of kids they don't know unless they've played sports with them before. Hell, there were still kids in her school she never met because they never shared a class together.

Anyway, I wish all the kiddos here a great school year! Another year towards adulthood and independence for them.  :bawl:(ok, I'm done now) :-)

First day of kindergarten here.   My last little baby off to the big school.

and..

My eighth grader,  I looked at him today and he is just about man-sized.   He's 4 inches taller than me and his shoes are a half size bigger than his dads.  Where did the little boy go?

My 4-year old started Pre-K this morning.

Yesterday, Mrs. Defiant succombed to the boy's summer cold from a week and a half ago.  Her head's all stuffed up, it's got a good hold on her larynx, and her sinuses keep her awake at night - and wouldn't you know it, Ny-quil in any form is off her acceptable medications list while she's pregnant.  :thatsright:

Saturday I had to dive to recover the anchor I had set in an (unseen) nest of broken up concrete and rebar at the bottom of our nearby sailing lake, and the pressure at 35-40 feet of water did a number on my muscles and joints come Sunday morning.

Needless to say, it's going to ba an interesting week.

Last week of summer vacation here. My little urchin is due back in a couple of days from his trip. I'm really looking forward to seeing him!

They are developing the property next door and started blasting. My nerves are now shot.

I got to sleep in a bit this morning, I didn't come to work until 10am.  If the night receptionist shows up (which I doubt she will) she's allowed to work, otherwise I'm working until 9.  Yea overtime!  My boss has 3 interviews set up for today and 1 set up for tomorrow.  We're hoping there's a good one in there and they can start Wed or Thurs.  :)

You might have a point there. He just turned 13 and is entering the eighth grade. ....oh!.... and he's still a bit bashful around girls. He did, however, with a big grin on his face, tell me that all the girls in the "honors" program that he's in are "hot". That put my mind at ease for the time being. A couple of years from now it'll be something to worry about. :-)

Just started second week of the semester.  Ran to the bank earlier to make a deposit, and got my student ID and Student Discount card (10 % off at Cold Stone Creamery, anyone?  :naughty: )

Anatomy and Physiology is my only class for today, thank goodness.  It's become very boring.   Since I've taken the class before,   I remember more from the previous times I took the two courses than I realized.   :cheersmate:

Need to start with the flashcards, though, and organizing the notebooks better, as I will have a TON of handouts in this class, as well as my Intro to Research in Healthcare class.  :o

Right now, just sitting back and enjoying the peace and quiet.  The illegal resident has not been back here in quite some time.   :evillaugh:

you sure we don't have the same son?  My 8th grader (as of tomorrow) has shoes bigger than his dads, but he's not quite taller than I am yet...he's got another inch or so to go, but I'm pretty tall!

To the sick ones ...hope y'all feel better soon!

Dixie...they are blasting next to you? You have my sympathy! <<<<hugs>>>>

I've been doing reports all day...have 3 done and one more due by 3AM. Pictures are done, all I have to do is find 6 comps @ $700-800k and do a 12 page report. It's a new company for me and my first one, so I'm stressing a littel.

We are getting rain finally....some of "Fay's feeder bands" started coming through about 9:30 this morning. Weather guy said we could get between 1-10 INCHES over the next 2 days....glad they were able to narrow the amount down... :whatever:

Have Fox News on in the background.....going to be a long 2 weeks.....

Hang in there Deb!

Yes, they are blasting at the construction site next door. I keep waiting for the floor to open up and swallow me. A guy came by a while back to tell us but I still freak out. I have to fight the urge to hide under my desk or run around yelling "air raid!". No word on how long they will keep going.

We're hiring for night/Saturday receptionist if you're interested...there's no construction here.  LOL!

Unfortunately none of the interviews for today showed up!  None!  I can't believe it.  There are two scheduled for tomorrow, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they show up and one is acceptable to hire.

I just wish we could get someone in here that lasts more than 3 months.  This one was complaining about having to work on Saturdays.  The day receptionist offered to let her work one day during the week all day and she would work every other Saturday.  Well the girl didn't want that either, b/c the one day during the week she would have worked 8am-9pm.   :whatever:

What I don't understand is 1. taking a job knowing that you have to work Saturdays, then bitch about working said Saturdays, and 2. giving a notice of 10 days when you're spoiled ass just isn't going to show up again anyways.   :whatever:

I start school next week and I won't be able to watch the receptionist desk like I always have been, so they need someone in here ASAP.

little ingrates. It amazes me how much attitudes have changed. Yes, working on the weekend stinks when all of your friends are out partying but....I did it when I was younger and starting out. I worked all kinds of hours doing things like waiting tables to managing a retail clothing store. Why apply for a job and then bitch about it? It's not like you're keeping the job responsibilities a big secret!

I don't envy hiring managers these days.

Uh-oh !!!!!! My honar role son, best student ever(according to his teachers), fell off the wagon today. Third day in school and he has messed up already. When his teacher started going off on "global warming" today, he corrected her. He told her that it has now been changed to "climate change" because it has been cooling off for the last ten years. He says she got mad and started talking fast. He couldn't understand her......... and then the bell rang.

At least it was his language arts teacher and not his science teacher. Maybe he'll learn to keep his mouth shut and muddle thru this year.
