Well, that's what 2.5 years of a disinformation campaign will cause.

  brooklynite seems to be wearying of his self-appointed task of trying to bring sanity to DU.

I've tried, with little or no success, to do something like that elsewhere on other occasions and ideas, so I can actually sympathize with him on that point. My laughing above is at DU, not brooklynite. I think he would be received here or on CU better than it's getting to be on DU.

Whither DU ... speculating ... DU seems to be veering hard, hard, left, in terms of its members' views and posts. What happens if the Dems' nominee is very insufficiently crazy-left? Will Skinner abandon DU's Party Uber Alles, toe-the-D-Party-Line, TOS? Will Skinner try to enforce the TOS, and if so, will there be a consequent exodus or purge? Based on human nature and what I've seen of DU-folk, I don't see how things will be pretty, regardless of how crazy-left the Dem nominee is or isn't.

Of course, it is not impossible that whoever the Dems nominate, DU will obediently line up behind him or her.

$kinner will do what is best for $kinner. If that means bending the TOS in order to accommodate the new crazy, that is what he will do. It is his board, he can do what he wants to do.

ProudLib72 absolutely nails it on the head without even realizing it.
The problem is , it simply doesn't see who's been conducting the disinformation campaign.
