Pete
When his name comes up on the TV news, they always seem to refer to Pete Buttigieg as Mayor Pete. That sounds to my ears like a very childish, childlike way to refer to the guy:
Honey, did you do anything interesting at school today? Yes mommy, we went on a class field trip to city hall and met Mayor Pete!
It's ok for 3rd graders to talk like that, but not TV news anchors.
I think the reason that they avoid using his last name is because it's pronounced
booty-judge. He is gay and his name is booty-judge--that is an invitation to mockery and snickers and the anchormen can't keep a straight face while saying it.
When he decided to get into politics he should have just changed his name. He didn't even have to change his name, just make a subtle change in how it's pronounced,
beauty-gig, for example.
