BEG....I just called my lender and he said to do optoutprescreen.com.

He did say that he's had some do it, where all it did was Increase the amount of offers they got.

He said that the one client of mine that got 43 was the highest change that occurred, but that it usually is only in the 20's.

He does a lot of "C" and "D" loans....rather he did more when the market was better....and does a lot with people who need to improve their credit before they can apply for a mortgage. He's done several loans for buyers that I have had over the last several years, so he's my "go to" for questions.

Our credit score is actually quite good, in fact I would say excellent.  I just want to get the junk mail and credit card offers to STOP.  I am sick of shredding credit card offers all the time.

BEG, you can stop all the junk mail at your local post office.  You won't have to give them your SS#.  They have a form to fill out and voila ... it stops.

Try this trick too BEG.
Take the junk mail.  Use a magic marker, obliterate YOUR address, but leave the return address nice and clear.

Write "REFUSED" on the junk and drop it in the mailbox.

They get hit with "postage due" when it is returned to them.  They'll take you off their lists pretty quick.

I've heard this is the most effective way to deal with all the junk mail.   :II:

0) PAY ALL DEBTS OFF EVERY MONTH.  CARRY NO BALANCES!
1) You should have no more than 4 Credit cards (AX, MC, Visa) and NO revolving credit lines -- Macy's etc.
2) The older credit cards do you the most good.  Do not close old cards.
3) Use your credit cards, but only as a substitute for cash.  You need to use, then pay off, credit to build your score up.  SEE ITEM 0 above!
4) PAY ALL DEBTS OFF EVERY MONTH.  CARRY NO BALANCES!

These are good points, but I'd cut down the credit cards to no more than 2 per spouse.  1 per is even better.  And only use them if you have no other option (e.g. someplace doesn't take cash or checks) and/or with agreement with your spouse and a plan to pay it off.

I'm gonna try that. They've been flooding me with junk mail far too long.

Yeah, if it's like a catalog you didn't want or ask for, they get dinged with first class postage on the return.

Now if there was just a  way to stop the "junk" in my email!!

I've come to the conclusion, that every time I read an article regarding foreclosures or mortgages, I must be "tripping" some sort of signal, even though I delete my cookies and off-line content several times a day.

I get more junk email to help me with my credit, offering me mortgage help, or do I want to sell my house.

Here are some resources I have collected and used over the years.

Use this link to find the right credit card if you decide to apply for credit:

http://www.cardmatch.org/

I spent weeks lurking on this board. There is tons of info and all I can say is that you just need to read it for yourself and decide what tactics will work for your situation. Verify anything before using it. Laws change often. Poke around on there long enough and you'll get a feel for what's solid and what's not:

This guys posts on the board above. He's got tons of info:

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
