primitives discuss roof rain diverters

Hmmmm.

It seems to me that a house without roof gutters would violate just about every building code in existence, in any locality where it rains or snows.

<<<could be wrong, however.

Is there a roof rain diverter that fans the water outward?

I don't have gutters on my house, but the roof has several valleys where rainwater collects and pours off into the lawn or garden, pounding the ground and digging holes or damaging plants. I thought somewhere I'd once seen an ad for a device that would fit into the "corner" of the roof edge where the valley comes down and sort of "fan" the water out so it falls to the ground like rain.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? Does something like this exist?

1. You could install a rain chain leading to a dry stone creek/ rain garden.

The important thing is to keep water away from the foundation by making sure the ground is graded away from the foundation in all directions.

2. Hard to visualize without seeing it. But can you use a hopper and a downpipe?

3. Had the same problem. My roofing guy put up a diverter to direct the water towards the gutter.

Google "roof rain diverter" or call a roofer for an estimate.

Well, okay, I learned something new and constructive from primitives for once.

However, I wouldnd't count on the primitives for any useful information about news, current events, politics, economics, religion, whatnot.

There are homes here where I live with no gutters. They use a metal strip above an outside access door mounted to the roof to divert the water but otherwise the rain just flows off the roof. Gutters aren't required.

Here in Florida gutters are useless in the torrential downpours we get regularly. they can't drain fast enough and the water overflows.

The best rain diverter for your money, primitive:

Stand on the roof with an umbrella, with a huge metal spike affixed to the top of it, while it's raining. Works wonders.
