The mid day keep me busy while I do my nails thread
« on: August 18, 2008, 12:06:13 PM »
So what are you all up today besides work..of course?

I'm doing my nails and then my girl's. Have to head out in an hour or so and take the two school age kids to meet their teachers(2 different schools now so I have some running to do) and then I have an orientation tonight at the middle school for my daughter. Trying to finish my final paper that's due tomorrow alos(then I get a month long break thankfully).

So what's going on in your world's? Anyone got kids going back to school this week? Mine do on Thursday--woot! :-)

The clouds have moved in like dripping battleships and the trees are hanging their heads weeping.  It's raining today.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to get some drape pull-back gathers for one window.  I know I won't find them in the gold color I want, so I will have to paint them.  That's ok.

I may make a pot-o-beans and cornbread for later.  I hope I have enough little packets of Dairy Queen taco sauce to season the beans.  I know I have plenty from Taco Bell, but the Dairy Queen sauce is better.

We're out of cat food.  I had to feed Pumpkin some turkey slices.

That is all.

Two weeks to go for the return of school.

I got used to sleeping in here this summer. :)

Ran a bunch of errands today.

Made the appointment for next week to get our Maggie dog put to sleep.  Having a hard time with that right now.
Thirteen and a half years she's been keeping us company and standing watch. Hurts.

Just finished filling out an on-line application from hell.  They wanted my employement history back to HIGH SCHOOL.  Yeah, Right.  This, for a subbing position.  :mental:

Now I have to call stupid HR to find out what to do next.

My daughter is doing a dance thingy all week (9:30-5 today!), football and baseball practice tonight.

Dentist appts for the boys tomorrow, and various practices.   My baby turns 8 on Thursday, so I need to make cupcakes at somepoint for him to take to practice.

School starts a week from tomorrow!

That's tough, asdf.   Love her and hug her as much as you can this week, and take lots of pictures.

Just got out of my first class of the semester...Anatomy and Physiology 1 (the fun stuff, if you know what I mean, doesn't start until part 2 of the course  :p  ).

The professor acts and sounds like Bill Engvall, which might make the class that much more interesting.   :lmao: I just wish I didn't have to take the classes again, given I took them at a technical college and did well in both (B and A, respectively).    Technical college credits don't transfer to the larger universities, something I don't understand, given that the textbook is the exact same one (same edition too). :mental:

I'm at work and have been busy as usual for a Monday.

I got my college algebra book in the mail today.  I don't start school until Sept. 3.  I get everything shipped to work, since I'm always here.  LOL!

The fall semester begins on Monday so things are busy at work this week. I'm impressed with how focused I am today. I've knocked a lot off of my To Do Pile and faculty haven't been too demanding yet. That will change soon.  :whatever:

I overdid a workout yesterday so my right calf muscle is killing me right now. I want to go home and ice it and then take a hot bubble bath.

Aaahhhhhhhh. :)

Hmm...I am mildly entertained at the thought of you squeezing multiple little packets of hot sauce. I'm also long done with my nails and already done with the 'meet the teacher' stuff.

I hate those apps. I just don't have that information anymore and quite frankly don't remember supervisor's names even from that far back.

Happy bday to your 'baby'. My 'baby' starts kinder next year and my oldest is about to start middle school.

I'm about to sound like a big dummy but I had not been really doing a lot of stretching when working out. Really started incorporating that in my workouts and my old body thanks me. Feel sooo much better now then I was when I was doing the workouts without all the stretching. Not so achy.

I'm a big stretcher but yesterday I got sidetracked and didn't get around to it. My legs are regretting that today.

I ordered one of the books for my Dealership Management and Organization from the school bookstore.  I tried looking to see if it was available anywhere else online, but since it's such a specialized field and only this University teaches it, it's not.  :(  I have another book for that class to buy, but it's not "available" yet.   :whatever:

Sounds as bad as having to buy the customized lab manuals for my biology classes.  As they are designed by and for our professors here, we can only buy them at the school bookstore.  And they charge students crazy prices for them.  $60 for a new manual, 45 for a used one (I got a pristine used one).  :banghead:

You know, I'm glad to hear it does make a difference. Proof from us both now it does.I truly can not believe the difference between stretching and not. Really amazing.

I got a used one for the first book, $54.  I don't know how much the other book will be, but I expect it will be near the same.  Then I have to take this stupid class "Intro to College Studies" (they make everyone, including transfer students take it).  But there's only two little booklets that I need for that, and they're $6 each, new.

Well, I'm right there with you! Going to turn in the books I have and see if anything comes my way to use towards the next bunch I have to buy for the next round. Whew! I'm ready to get this semester done though and at least have one degree to my name.

Nothing happening today.  I'm going try another beer-can chicken for dinner.

Genghis Khan dies in his sleep, after a fall from his horse. His old age and drinking probably contributed to his death, which the Mongols manage to keep secret for some time.

Pope Alexander VI dies. He was the father of seven illegitimate children, and during his reign chose as his lover the lovely sixteen year old Guilia Farnese. A portrait of Guilia dressed as the Virgin Mary appeared over Alexander's bedchamber door, but by no means was she his only liaison.

Sent to England to get supplies three years prior, John White finally returns to Roanoke Island and discovers his colony "strongly enclosed with a high palisade of great trees, with [curtain walls] and [bastions] -- very fort-like." There is no sign of the settlers or where they may have gone.

A giant black rainbow encircles the Earth, sucking all oxygen from the atmosphere. The air returns shortly thereafter, but only after millions die from asphyxiation. On the bright side, the survivors go on to build a utopian civilization. My ex-boyfriend found me and emailed me.  I got pissed at K because he NEVER picks up his POS cell phone and when he does finally looks to see I call (I don't call often) he doesn't check the message first he just calls me.  It makes me mad because what if one of the girls were in the hospital or something or my son had an emergency.  He also leaves the office late and thinks it's no big deal if he is 15 minutes later than he normally is.  We eat dinner at 7:30 because he doesn't get home until 7:00 - 7:30 every night, his 15 minutes screws up dinner.  He says, "Just go ahead and start with out me".  That pisses me off the most because I cook for HIM because my girls would eat Ramen Noodles 24/7 if I let them.

I'm making meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and those yeasty rolls that raise in the pan before baking (Rhodes I think they are called), my kids LOVE them.  I shouldn't have made anything for him tonight....bastage.

Now I will feel bad if he has an accident or something.

Update:  I lost it tonight.  Both of my girls came home and said they had already eaten.  I friggen flipped out.  Anytime I even think of feeding someone else's kid at dinner time I call the parent and ask them if it is ok.  I am either PMSing or having a ton emotion still inside me from my brother dying or something because I over reacted big time.   I threw the rolls in the oven and SLAMMED the oven door and ran to my room and started crying.  I have NEVER done anything like this before.  My parents were both coming over for dinner tonight too.

I heard my husband tell the girls why I was upset and how it is inconsiderate of them not to call to check with me first...etc.  Then my Mom came in my room and I bitched a little and instead of defending the kids and Kevin like she normally does she sided with me and it made me feel better.  I got over it and came out of my room.  My Mom had made a cake so I guess the night was not a total bust.

Ahh, sweetie.

My mom would have yelled at me if I ate dinner somewhere else without calling first.
