Beliefs You Can Change In: Soft Money
« on: August 16, 2008, 07:30:06 PM »
Quote
Facing a large deficit in the Democratic National Convention budget, officials from Barack Obama’s campaign have begun personally soliciting labor unions and others for contributions of up to $1 million. In exchange, donors could get stadium skyboxes for Obama’s acceptance speech and other perks.

Obama has regularly criticized politicians seeking large donations outside the framework of campaign finance regulations — so-called soft money — while touting the virtues of relying on small donations.
But campaign officials last month reluctantly decided they had to take a hand in raising large donations from individuals, unions and corporations. Some of the donors get special bundles of perks, including use of the party suites at Denver’s Invesco Field, as well as special policy briefings by Obama advisors, choice hotel rooms and party invitations.

What caused the shift was evidence that the Denver Host Committee was having trouble raising the estimated $60 million in cash and in-kind contributions needed to fund the convention, which runs Aug. 24-29.

According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Sure you can.

no one will call him on it because "the ends justify the means" to the MSM... or should the phrasing be "by any means necessary"

Well now, let's be fair.  He's a Democrat.  No Democrat presidential candidate could ever hope to run a campaign on small donations, because there just aren't enough of them.

The Democrat constituency is, for the most part, the very very very poor and the very very very wealthy, with the former vastly outnumbering the latter.  Obviously, the former cannot and will not donate to the Obamessiah's campaign, and the latter group is so small that, if they limited themselves to small monetary donations, they wouldn't have enough funds to throw a pizza party, let alone a presidential campaign.

A Republican candidate, on the other hand, can successfully campaign on donations averaging $50 a pop, simply because of the sheer number of donations they will recieve.
Taxation if and only if Representation.

The Founding Fathers only got it half right.
