The NTK Network has exclusively obtained a new poll conducted by the Republican National Committee (RNC) that shows wide support among Americans for President Trump’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

The poll, which was conducted between August 29 and 30 and had 800 respondents, found that only 7 percent of people think that providing work permits to illegal immigrants under the age of 30 should be a higher priority for Congress. The poll’s margin of error was 3.5 percent

When asked, “Which of the following should be a higher priority for Congress,” 82 percent of those polled said that Congress should focus more on helping unemployed Americans find jobs.

Only 14 percent of Democrats think that work permits for DACA are more important than helping unemployed Americans find jobs, compared to nearly 78 percent of Democrats who think the opposite.

When asked, “Which of the following should Congress do first,” the poll found that only 37 percent of people wanted Congress to pass legislation to legalize illegal immigrants, compared to the 43 percent who said Congress should pass legislation to block illegal immigrants from coming into the country.

While only 18 percent of Democrats said Congress should first pass legislation to block illegal immigrants from coming into the country 76 percent of Republicans supported this as well as 43 percent of Independents who were polled.

Only 37 percent of Independents thought Congress should pass legislation to legalize illegal immigrants according to the poll.

When asked, “Which of the following statements comes closest to your own opinion,” 51 percent agreed with, “.”

Only 28 percent said, “Congress should pass legislation making it easier for illegal immigrants to get jobs and collect benefits.”

Republicans and Independents agreed that Congress should do more to stop illegal immigration, with 84 of Republicans and 55 of Independents agreeing with the statement, “Congress should pass legislation to block illegal immigrants from coming into this country.”

This poll validates President Trump’s bold actions to address illegal immigration and further demonstrates the overwhelming bi-partisan support for prioritizing American jobs and border security. The American people want Congress and the administration to prioritize enforcing laws already on the books and secure the Southern border before addressing the undocumented individuals already in the United States,” Mike Reed, a spokesperson for the RNC, told NTK about the findings of the poll.
