The White House solicited recommendations on where to donate from the White House Press Corps  after announcing last week Trump and First Lady Melania Trump would personally donate $1 million to Harvey relief.

They have the resources, they're efficient, they're effective, and they are there. And contrary to the Twitter-Bigots' insinuation, they don't discriminate in giving aid (Picture the absurdity ... a dude or dudette walks up to a Samaritan's Purse worker ... and before lifting a finger to help , the worker asks, "Are you gay/lesbian? Are you a ____? Are you a ____?" It takes a pretty sick bigot to imagine or even insinuate that this would happen! But maybe on DU ...).

Hope you all don't mind my bumping this thread. Doing so. IMO, contrasts DU-folks' and similar Progs' sneers and inactivity with reality. Onward to another trigger for DU-folk:

Christians Provide More Aid To Hurricane Victims Than FEMA

Faith-based relief groups are responsible for providing nearly 80 percent of the aid delivered thus far to communities with homes devastated by the recent hurricanes, according to USA Today. An alliance of non-profit organizations called National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD), 75 percent of which are faith based, has helped FEMA distribute relief assistance to communities hit by disasters and assisted families in navigating government aid programs to begin the process of rebuilding.

“About 80 percent of all recovery happens because of non-profits, and the majority of them are faith-based,” Greg Forrester, CEO of NVOAD, told USA Today.

Several individual organizations have aided in the relief operations in major ways as well. Samaritan’s Purse, an evangelical disaster relief group led by evangelist Franklin Graham, recently began a relief mission to the Caribbean to help victims of the hurricanes on various islands. Samaritan’s Purse also has ongoing relief operations in Houston and is preparing to aid Florida in the aftermath of Irma.

Samaritan's Purse is one of the charities to which Trump donated, and is hated by many (most?) Progs (as seen in that Twitchy link above).

As the article indicates, FEMA and groups like Samaritan's Purse have cooperated (I wonder if that was permitted during Obama's Administration - I don't know, but it would be interesting to learn).
