BNN - Bush Economy Hits Pre-Election Snag
« on: August 15, 2008, 08:12:33 PM »
Stanford, CT - 15 Aug 2008 - Back during the 2004 election season the Bush administration made strident efforts to make the American people aware of the fact that 4 million jobs had been added to the US economy during his tenure.

Once the story gained traction his rival, Massachusetts senator John Kerry noted those jobs were primarily "burger flipper" jobs and the counter seemed to have blunted the president's claims.

Now Stanford economists have a reviewed economic data for the past 3 and a half years and have come to the conclusion that America's labor sector has moved beyond the fast-food service industry.

"They're definitely moving into more white-collared vocations," noted Prof. E. D. Carlton, senior fellow of the Keynes Economics Institute. "But now there's a hitch.

"They've got more money but now they don't have any place to spend it. They can't eat out because--well frankly--we don't have enough burger flippers in this country."

Democrats were quick to pounce.

"Once again the economic malpractice of this administration has shown itself through and we see yet another entire sector of the US economy devastated," charged Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV).

Some democrats immediately proposed an emergency $50 billion spending package to study ways to prepare more Americans for low-wage, unskilled menial labor. Others proposed raising taxes to allow the excess, unspent income to flow into Washington.

"What the hell," said Sen. Reid, "it's not doing them any good just sitting there. I got plans."
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."
