What to do before a nuclear blast?

The following are things experts recommend you can do to protect yourself, your family and your home if you believe an attack is imminent.

What's funny about the primitive plans for dealing with a catastrophe such as this--and the normally sensible "preppers" too--is that they assume in case of such an event, law and order will persevere; that everybody will be allowed to keep what they have.

Hah.

I suggest the primitives and preppers both consult history, to see what happens in cases of widespread panic, disorder, and anarchy.  About the only people who'll be safe are people with firearms and other weapons, and people who know how to use them.

I would say that doesn't hold so much for any preppers I know, they all pretty much expect to have to defend their stronghold with firepower and a readiness to use deadly force.  I have certainly seen some who have weird ideas about 'No weapons' or 'Peace collectives' but that is not the kind of person who lives in my part of the country.

I am not really into it myself, I am more like prepared for a temporary disruption of up to a month or so when the hand of the government reasserts its control, likely by seizing whatever it needs from the more stockpiled preppers.

I had a client who had a wife who was always hoarding this and that for the Days of Catastrophe.  I ask her why she would go to so much trouble and expense.  It really bothered her after I explained that the starving"have nots" were not going to peacefully and longingly peer through the window watching her feast on her "preparations".   She still wouldn't survive. 

Personally, I'd rather not survive.  What would be the point?
