Before starting his solo career he was one of a number of LA studio musicians who played on a LOT of 1960s and early 70s pop hits.

I mainly remembered him as the voice of Chanticleer the rooster in the old Don Bluth animated film 'Rock- a- Doodle.'
I adored that movie as a kid, and he did a lot of singing in that, too.
It may be late, but RIP, sir.
