Kilpatrick to stand trial on assault chargesJudge Ronald Giles of 36th District Court has ruled that there is enough evidence to send Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to trial on felony charges that he interfered with officers trying to serve a subpoena.The judge's ruling came less than 5 minutes after Wayne County Sheriff's Detective Brian White stepped down from the stand as the final witness in a preliminary examination held to determine whether there is enough to evidence to send Kilpatrick to trial on assault charges.Giles said, “It’s clear Mr. Kilpatrick knew who Detective White was. …He specifically called him by name.â€â€œThere’s nothing to show it was accidental,†Giles added, referring to the touching.Earlier, Giles allowed Kilpatrick's attorney can play audio recordings of calls White made to the Wayne County Sheriff's Department after he was allegedly assaulted by the mayor.More
