As President Trump announced his support for the Reforming American Immigration for a strong Economy Act (RAISE), proposed by Senators David Purdue (R-GA) and Tom Cotton (R-AR), fellow Republicans in the Senate blasted the bill for its provisions in cutting legal immigration by half.

“Unfortunately, the other part of this proposal would reduce legal immigration by half, including many immigrants who work legally in our agriculture, tourism and service industries,” Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said in a statement.

He continued, “South Carolina’s number one industry is agriculture, and tourism is number two. If this proposal were to become law, it would be devastating to our state’s economy, which relies on this immigrant workforce.”

Restaurants and coastal resorts strongly support Senator Lindsey Graham through political financial contributions.

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) also voiced strong support for his state’s major industries as a chief factor in opposing any future cuts in legal immigration.

He said:

I’m all for merit-based and skills-based immigration, and a legal immigration system… but we need to make sure we have an immigration system that allows enough people into this country to make sure that we can staff manufacturers and dairy farms and all of our organizations that grow our economy.

Both senators are significant proponents of mass immigration into the United States.

In July, Senator Lindsey Graham called for granting citizenship to 1.5 million illegal immigrants who were brought into the United States illegally as children. He also called for increasing importation of foreign workers.

Around 1.5 million foreign workers with temporary visas arrive in the United States annually to compete in the labor market with the four million Americans who turn 18 each year.

Ron Johnson also strongly supports helping businesses through mass immigration.

In May, he proposed allowing states to import 500,000 foreign workers to replace Americans who were out of the labor market. The legislation did not consider helping American citizens re-enter the labor market who were out of the workforce for a variety of reasons including drug addiction.

The fact that at least two Republican senators strongly oppose the RAISE act puts its success in doubt given their slim 52-seat majority in the chamber and Democratic opposition to the legislation.

Trump goes big on immigration

President Trump made clear Wednesday that he wants to not just enforce the immigration laws on the books but drastically change them, admitting fewer immigrants and making skills a higher priority in determining who is let in.

That is a major development in a debate that has largely been dominated by distinctions between legal and illegal immigration.

The bill sponsored by Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., and David Perdue, R-Ga., that Trump endorsed at the White House goes beyond building the wall or dealing with illegal immigration. The RAISE Act would drastically reduce legal immigration and move away from a system where most immigrants are admitted because of who they are related to rather than what they can contribute to the U.S. economy.

"This policy has placed substantial pressure on American workers, taxpayers and community resources," Trump said. "Among those hit the hardest in recent years have been immigrants and, very importantly, minority workers competing for jobs against brand-new arrivals. And it has not been fair to our people, to our citizens, to our workers."

One reporter at the White House press briefing pointed to a seeming contradiction in how the bill was being sold, saying that Cotton and Perdue described it as "modest and incremental" while senior policy adviser Stephen Miller made "it sound so enormously important."

Miller, one of the leading voices for immigration restriction in the White House, repeatedly called the bill "historic," and his presence at the podium signaled at least some in the administration think it is important.

llegal Aliens Living In Fear, Arrests Increasing In North Texas

Beat ICE to the punch, self deport.

Via CBS DFW:

Arrests of undocumented immigrants in North Texas have nearly doubled since President Donald Trump took office.

Statistics obtained by CBS 11 show they’ve gone up by nearly 40 percent, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a Fort Worth tortilla shop that doubles as a restaurant, almost everyone is an immigrant, both legal and not. This morning, an undocumented woman ate a late breakfast and planned for what she believes is inevitable deportation.

“It’s pure fear now,” she said. “If I talk to other immigrants, it’s the same. Just fear.”

The mother and wife agreed to speak to CBS 11 if we didn’t show her face or give her name. She says she came to the United States seven years ago to earn money to pay for her kids’ education in Mexico. Since Trump took office, she and her family have been saving money in case they’re deported.

“We already bought boxes so we can start packing our things and sending them to Mexico,” she said.

Graham: ‘Not Accurate’ That Foreign Workers Are Hurting American Wages, Job Opportunities

Thursday on MSNBC, when asked about the immigration plan President Donald Trump is supporting, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said he could not support the bill because it is based on an inaccurate argument that foreign workers are hurting American wages and job opportunities.

Graham said, “The argument is that these foreign workers are hurting the American wages and job opportunities. I think that is not accurate. I think the truth is that employers can advertise until the cows come home. And there are certain areas like meat packing, and tourism, and agriculture that you just can’t find the American-born labor to do those jobs. And these legal visas keep the company from going out of business or moving overseas. And I don’t want an economy that doesn’t recognize how diverse we are as a nation. And to take all of the green cards and put them in one end of the economy is just I think Ill-advised. And I can’t support that.”

=============================

LindSHE is working for the same crime organization that McStain is working for which funds, protects, and legislates sanctuary cities from California to Florida to NYC and everywhere inbetween.

It is the exact one in the same crime organization that paid Harry Reid to BUS IN ILLEGAL ALIENS into Las Vegas to swing the vote for the liberals, and the same one which now owns the GOPe.

Ready for it?
