Encountered my first gay 45 supporter today

Gay supporters of 45 obviously exist but today was the first time I had actually encountered one personally. To my surprise, it was someone who I thought was largely uninterested in politics.

I had lunch today with a former co-worker I had not seen in years due to a change in jobs, a move, the passage of time, etc. He didn't vote in 2004 but he did vote for Obama in 2008. I have no idea how or if he voted in 2012. He never really seemed interested in politics in the past and I try to avoid talking politics at work since I live in a red state. I never detected any hints of modern day RW behavior when I worked with him years ago and he was always socially liberal back then as is typical of most gay men.

Anyway, during our lunch conversation today, he brought up the subject of 45 and he said he had voted for him and still supports him. I nearly spat out my food at that confession. I inquired why and he responded by saying he wants/supports a president who will shake up the system and bring some needed change to how this country operates. He offered some more babbling in defense of 45 which I had no interest in hearing so I changed the subject to old co-workers while I scarfed down my lunch as quickly as possible. Politics never came up again and we exchanged pleasantries before parting ways <SNIP>


Who knew.  Butt Pirates in the DU_ranks voted for 45  (a high caliber President  :-) :-))
