Just so much here...
first, Police have to ask you questions because they don't know what happened. We treat everyone as a suspect because we don't know that you are not-
From the limited description of the event, it sounds like you went outside into the alley with someone for the expressed purposes of an argument- that right there is mutual assault. You say the guy showed you a gun in his... waist band? That's not illegal, dipshit. If you are yelling and screaming at him (as I assume you are) all he has to say to the police is "I was afraid for my life" and he's fine. He didn't draw his weapon of point it at you. To me, without seeing your nose, sounds like he punched you, because if you'd been hit with a pistol on the nose/face you wouldn't be standing up anymore.
Anyway- so you are bleeding and go back inside. The bar doesn't have to call anyone. a fight happened outside the establishment- not their problem. Hell, they probably don't want you back inside bleeding on the floor.
So- we got mutual assault, no real witnesses, you say you didn't know the guys name, you didn't call to file a police report but waited for someone else to do it...
yeah, other than an incident report (done because we responded to a call) what the **** do you think was going to happen? An ambulance ride because of a broken nose? GTFOOH...
