Back from Ft Sam Houston.
I finished all the academic requirements but I got punted because I'm still unable to use the arm well enough to due the "trauma lanes" i.e. simulated casualty triage and treatment. I'm kinda bummed; as much as I hated that place I was very close to finishing with honors and I had grown close to many of my fellow soldiers. I feel as if I've left behind my wardawgs in the middle of a fight. They paid me the honor of signing my class t-shirt, a thing that hadn't happened even though the original company size has been reduced from 480 to just over 370. I am equally honored and humbled to say the least.
I've still got about 3 months healing ahead of me but when I'm done I can go back and pick-up where I left off. Alas, the training NCO at my home unit was giving me a ration of crap about coming home with being fully MOS qualified. He wanted to leave me there to rot for an extra 4 months until I could be returned to duty. The National Guard liaison basically said he was ignorant and crazy and would deal with him but now that I'm home I have to deal with him as well. We'll see how that fight goes.
oy!
