saracat (1000+ posts) Wed Aug-13-08 05:33 PMOriginal message THe tragic death of Bill Gwatney who was shot at a Dem HQ underscores the fact that Advertisements [?]we are not "safe" anywhere. Our Dem HQ's need to be protected. This guy just walked off the streets and killed him and now is himself dead. We may never know the reason but this was a Democratic headquarters where many regular citizens volunteer. WE need to demand safety from our government on all levels. And the political process needs to be protected. There are those that say this might have not been a "political act". The media however used the term "assassination" and this became a "political act due to the fact it took place in a democratic State party headquarters and that the victim was a Democratic State party Chair and a Clinton Super delegate. Every Democrat should be enraged and grief stricken today. And every citizen should be demanding increased safety and answers.

butterfly77 (1000+ posts) Wed Aug-13-08 05:47 PMResponse to Original message 8. A lot of this stems from... nuts who listen to Slannity,Limburger and O'lielly and the rest of the crew who lie day in and day out and they believe the garbage that they spew out. I heard earlier that he was angry because he lost his job and my first thoughts were why is he angry at the Democrats when the Republicons have been in charge.
malaise (1000+ posts) Wed Aug-13-08 05:51 PMResponse to Original message 9. Dems need their own private security This is damn madness.
screembloodymurder (1000+ posts) Wed Aug-13-08 05:53 PMResponse to Original message 12. Of coarse it was political. Don't be surprised if they hit the convention. Rush will probably give this guy's eulogy.
NightWatcher (1000+ posts) Wed Aug-13-08 06:03 PMResponse to Original message 15. us peace loving, latte sipping liberals need to carry a damn gun and be ready to shoot anyone who threatens us or our family in the face until they are dead
What the DUmmies seem to be missing, is that the gunman did nothing to harm the secretary that refused him entry to Gwaltneys office. This guy wasn't after a Democrat, this was something personal.
Seems to me the DUmmies are missing that this guy was a Super Delegate for Clinton. Could this have been an Obama supporter who was pissed off because there were too many threads on DU criticizing the Barrackstar?
