Is Sean Hannity Leaving Fox News? Network Retracts His Story, Ratings Down, Hannity Teases in Tweet

Something is up with Sean Hannity and Fox News.

Today, Fox News retracted Hannity’s story about late DNC employee Seth Rich being the WikiLeaks leaker. This was after a public outcry against Hannity and a plea from Rich’s family to stop it. Hannity is basing his accusation on posts from right wing blogger Kim Dotcom.

In the last 2o minutes, Hannity has teased on Twitter that news is coming about his future at Fox News. This is after a day of Tweets back and forth about the Rich-Dotcom situation.

Hannity posted: “Huge announcement tonight about Seth Rich, Trump/Russian Collusion corrupt media, the liberal effort to silence me. And my future at Fox!”

That was just 40 minutes after Hannity posted this: “I said publicly over and over to the Rich Family they are in my thoughts and prayers. I m trying to find the truth as the Mom Dad bro asked”

On Foxnews.com, the following statement went up this afternoon. It’s a direct rebuke of Hannity’s story:
“On May 16, a story was posted on the Fox News website on the investigation into the 2016 murder of DNC Staffer Seth Rich. The article was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting. Upon appropriate review, the article was found not to meet those standards and has since been removed.

We will continue to investigate this story and will provide updates as warranted.”

Fox News ratings have been plummeting. The prime time schedule is being beaten handily by MSNBC. There’s a definite feeling that with the ouster and death of Roger Ailes, the firing of Bill O’Reilly, the firing of Bob Beckel, the racial discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits, and the obvious Nixonian moves by the Trump White House, something has changed.

Will Hannity be next? Or will he be announcing that he’s digging in deeper? Never in my decade at Fox News would I have foreseen the collapse of what was a broadcasting empire. Stay tuned…

This is very important. John Podhoretz, renowned conservative, has called Hannity “pond scum” today on Twitter. He’s written a very critical piece about Hannity.

Hannity now says he will no longer talk about Seth Rich

Hours after Sean Hannity said he would not back down from sharing conspiracy theories about the murder of Seth Rich, a Democratic National Committee staffer, the Fox News host announced he will no longer discuss the unsolved death.

"I totally and completely understand how upset and how hard this is on this family, especially over the recent coverage of Seth's death. I've been communicating with them. I got a very heartfelt note. I also sent them a heartfelt note back," Hannity said on his show late Tuesday.

"Out of respect for the family's wishes for now, I am not discussing this matter at this time. Let me explain this. There are so many issues here, not the least of which is the Democratic push of their Russian narrative, collusion, Trump, Trump-Russia narrative. The destroy-Trump media and Democrats, they have been pushing that tinfoil hat conspiracy with zero evidence," Hannity added.

Hannity vowed to pick up the issue at a later date if appropriate.

Sean Hannity Takes "Abrupt Vacation" Amid Advertiser Boycott

Is Fox News about to lose its last remaining "old school" anchor holdout?

According to Philly.com, Hannity is taking "a couple days off amid a growing advertiser boycott" over Hannity's pursuit of the Seth Rich story - an parallel to Bill O'Reilly's final days - and so far, seven advertisers are said to have pulled out of Hannity’s show.

Cars.com was the first advertiser to announce it was pulling ads, telling Buzzfeed News on Wednesday afternoon that “we’ve been watching closely and have recently made the decision to pull our advertising from Hannity.” It was followed by exercise bike company Peloton (which just closed a $325M Series E round financing), Leesa Sleep; mattress retailer Casper, insurance company USAA; home security equipment maker Ring and Crowne Plaza Hotels, all of which announced they would be redirecting their ad buys from Hannity’s shows.

Meanwhile, the Five host Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has confirmed speaking to the White House about potentially replacing press secretary Sean Spicer, will be filling in on Hannity on Thursday and Friday.

Preempting speculation about a possible permanent departure, Hannity announced on Twitter the vacation was his annual Memorial Day getaway, and said "Uh oh My ANNUAL Memorial Day long weekend starts NOW. Destroy Trump/Conservative media breathless coverage starts! Did Hannity do last show?"
