Chelsea Manning Will Remain Active-Duty, Receive Health Care And Benefits On Release

When Chelsea Manning is released from military prison, he will remain in active duty status and be eligible for health care benefits.

Manning, who is widely known for leaking hundreds of thousands of national security documents to WikiLeaks in 2010, will leave Fort Leavenworth on May 17 and be entitled to health care, USA Today reports.

As one of his last moves before leaving the White House, President Barack Obama commuted Manning’s 35-year sentence, which enraged President-elect Donald Trump.

Manning would have been eligible for parole in six years. While Manning will go back to active duty as a private, he will not be paid, though he will have access to health care benefits.

The Army has declined to release details on where Manning will be stationed. It’s also unclear to whom Manning will report.

If Manning’s appeal of his court martial conviction is denied, he may be dishonorably discharged. This would, of course, mean a loss of health benefits and government-funded sex reassignment surgery.

Chelsea Manning Walks Out Of Prison And Into A Movie Deal



The Founding Fathers would be rolling over in their graves if they could see a traitor being released from prison and then lauded in society, by anyone. That’s what’s happening today, and traitor Chelsea Manning is at the center of it.

Chelsea Manning left a military prison in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, early Wednesday morning after serving seven years on an espionage sentence, and will already star in her own documentary film about her return to civilian life.

Manning received a 35 year sentence for leaking thousands of classified documents and videos to Wikileaks, but former President Obama commuted 28 years of that sentence before leaving office. Manning posted a shot of her Converse shoes to Instagram as she left her holding facility.

And this is the “gag” part…

To facilitate her return to civilian life, a program called “Hugs for Chelsea” has raised more than $100,000 so that she can find housing and private health insurance. Artists have contributed to a project also named Hugs for Chelsea, to help raise funds for her living expenses.

And on Wednesday Purse Films announced at the Cannes Film Festival, that they’re beginning a documentary following Chelsea as she adapts to the real world after seven years in prison, for crimes the American government claims—and many fellow military and former military concur—put American soldiers in harms way.
