Bradley Manning to remain on active duty in Army and receive health care after prison release

Bradley Manning, the transgender U.S. soldier convicted of espionage, will remain on active duty and be eligible for health care benefits after his release from prison, the Army said.

Manning, who was known as Bradley and underwent hormone treatment behind bars, will remain a private in the Army, have access to commissaries and continue to receive health care benefits, but will not be paid, an Army spokesman told USA Today.

“Pvt. Manning is statutorily entitled to medical care while on excess leave in an active duty status, pending final appellate review,” the spokesman said.

The Army declined to say what post he’ll be assigned and who he’ll report to.....

I could care less about his employability after the military, after all, most gloryholes don't run a background check. I want to know how to get this little shitstain out of my army in the most expeditious, yet disgraceful to him, manner possible.

He will be placed on casual status and assigned to some unit at Fort Leonard Wood, because why pay him to be transferred.  He will be assigned every shitty detail imaginable until the appeal process is complete or he withdrawals the appeal.  He won't have a dime to his name, as he is not being paid and will likely be ordered to remain confined to his barracks room except for duty and chow.  He will be even more alone than he ever was in prison, he could have an accident.

According to his twitter feed today, he's apparently in New York and generally enjoying pretending to be female.

I definitely wish that he had been assigned to clean out the latrine with his tongue for the rest of his days in the Army.  Then again, he should have been put up against the wall and shot in the first place.

Normally people in similar situations (Out of confinement and with a punitive discharge that has not been finally approved by the service Secretary after appellate review) are placed on excess leave.  Excess leave is a non-pay status, and means they get sent home with no check until everything is done, although they are still entitled to military medical care (Which, of course, they also got while they were in confinement).

Basically he isn't assigned to an active duty post, just a control group at HQDA, who will eventually cut the little poof loose with a letter once the DD is final.
