The author also pointed out that the University California President Janet Napolitano formerly served as the secretary of homeland security under former President Barack Obama.

"She had to keep the entire nation safe. I think she can keep a college campus safe," Coulter said in reference to her upcoming speech.

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter said it's on law enforcement to protect her when she visits the University of California, Berkeley on Thursday.

"I'm showing up this Thursday," Coulter said Saturday evening on "Justice with Judge Jeanine." "Its up to the police to keep me safe."

The University cancelled Coulter's original appearance on April 27 after police said in a news conference on Thursday that they had received multiple threats that according to University Chancellor Nicholas Dirks, "could pose a grave danger to the speaker."

UC Berkeley later reversed its decusion and offered May 2 as alternative date. Lawyers from the conservative Young America's Foundation in a letter condemned the university's "insincere" offer during a "dead week," the LA Times reported. Though UC Berkeley responded that it doesn't have a "protectable" venue on April 27, Coulter says she will appear on campus on the day she originally intended.

UPDATE: Pro-Free Speech UC Berkeley Students to Sue if Coulter Refused Speaking Venue

In the latest update regarding the drama at UC Berkeley, the pro-free speech students on campus are threatening to sue the school if they refuse to find a proper venue and time slot for Ann Coulter to speak next week.

The AP reports:

The University of California at Berkeley students who invited Ann Coulter to speak on campus are threatening to sue the university if it doesn’t find a proper time and venue for the conservative pundit to speak next week.

Harmeet Dhillon, who represents the Berkeley College Republicans, says in a letter sent Friday to UC Berkeley’s chief attorney that if Coulter is not allowed to give a speech on campus on April 27 she will file a lawsuit soon after.

Berkeley officials on Tuesday informed the student group that their Coulter event was being [canceled] due to security concerns. They offered a May 2 date but Coulter rejected it.

The cancellation comes after a series of violent clashes this year between far-right and far-left protesters on campus and in downtown Berkeley.

Bill Maher Goes To Bat For Ann Coulter After UC Berkeley Cancels Speech

Bill Maher defended Ann Coulter after the University of California, Berkeley canceled her planned speaking event because of “security threats” and then rescheduled it after she accused school administrators of infringing on her free speech.

On his show “Real Time” Friday night, Maher said it is becoming a nationwide problem that colleges restrict free speech unless it’s “exactly what liberals want to hear.

“Berkeley used to be the cradle of free speech,” Maher said. “And now it’s just the cradle for ****ing babies.”

“I feel like this goes on all over the country on campuses — they invite somebody to speak that’s not exactly what liberals want to hear and they want to shut her down. I feel like this is the liberals’ version of book burning. And it’s got to stop.”

Maher's an asshole, but he's a consistent asshole.  He goes after both sides consistently.  I have to give him his props for standing up for Coulter. :cheersmate:

Thursday could be the day that UC Berkeley gets its mask torn-off.

I'm not sure what to expect.  The US has never dealt with this level of 'demonstration nostalgia' before.  That's what it is essentially, with no one tangible underlying message other than hate.  'Demonstration-envy' of the 60's.
