Ginsburg needed to retire under Obama

Just looking at her, there's no way she makes it through Trump's full term. Then we're gonna get an ultra-stacked right wing SCOTUS as Trump appoints another conservative justice. Why oh WHY didn't she just retire and let Obama replace her?

first:  :rotf:

second: I hope Justice Ginsburg has a long joy filled life.

I think ol' RBG is going to have a recurrence of the cancer that has taken two shots at her (colon, and pancreatic, though the latter was found quickly).
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of Liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

"All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don't sit looking at it - walk!" -Ayn Rand

"Those that trust God with their safety must yet use proper means for their safety, otherwise they tempt Him, and do not trust Him.  God will provide, but so must we also." - Matthew Henry, Commentary on 2 Chronicles 32, from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible

"These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to liberty than street criminals or foreign spies."--Theodore Haas, Dachau Survivor

Chase her.
Chase her even when she's yours.
That's the only way you'll be assured to never lose her.

If you survive pancreatic cancer, it means the devil doesn't want you yet.

Just possibly, as a Justice, her number one concern doesn't lie in affecting the ideological tilt of the court, and is simply trying to fulfill her duties as long as she feels able, and let the chips fall where they may afterward.

Of course no DUmmie would understand that, since literally everything they can hold in their tiny minds is viewed through the far left end of a partisan political prism.

Somehow Libs/Progs got it into their heads that the Ds could not lose in 2016 - from before the campaign started all the way through the announcement that Trump had indeed won (ignoring the fools who fantasize that the election was "stolen"). In that context, why would RBG perceive any urgent need to retire. If she was at all thinking of retiring, she was choosing between BHO picking her successor and HRC picking her successor. I assume her choice - if she made one - is obvious.

I think that if the Dems would have been easier to deal with on Gorsuch Trump might have made his next pick something a little closer to the center. Since they chose to act like a-holes it wouldn't surprise me if his next pick was Ted Cruz.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Yeah, I know she's Left.  Believe me, I know.  But no matter how ideological a Justice may be either way, it's extremely unusual for one of them to retire just so a particular President gets to pick the replacement.  It's just not the done thing, as long as the Justice still feels fully capable of doing the job.

Now even if she were one of those few outliers, she probably believed all the BS about Hitlery winning anyway, and if that's the case, Trump's victory is doubly sweet.

No shit.  That and liver cancer.  You get either of those, better make out your will.

I remember the red rotund one had pancreatic cancer.  Made it thru the surgery and then died of an infection.  The devil really wanted him after the great internet scam... so Frank killed him.  :lmao:

I disagree. I think there is/was an unwritten agreement not to let any president have more than two or maybe three. Scalia was an outlier cause he croaked.  Personally I thought it was a good thing... until the dems started playing hardball.  Now? Screw em! I hope President Trump gets to name as many as possible.

I really like him in that position, too.
However, however, however, having Trey as a SC Justice assures many years of negating stupid libby legislation
that might sneak through.
Ted would be nice, but, I think he's too much of a poltical animal.  He also PO's the libs something fierce.

All-in-all, I doubt Ginseng will retire.  A conservative justice may, knowing a constitutional conservative
would be nominated to replace him.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

You realize of course the rank and file lefties really and truly believe leftism is the wave of the future, right?

Reality is just a strange concept to people whose whole lives are surrounded by and based on delusions.

Hell, even the Soviets,Chi-Coms,and the Vietnamese have given up on Communism, and the people in Cuber and Venezuela WANT to get rid of it,and eventually they will when they get hungry enough.

Yet we have these (mostly) "children of privilege and comfort" here in the west as the last remaining bastions of True Believers in a massively failed political system.

There just ain't no reasoning with some people. You just smack them in the mouth and go on about your business.

IS she Jewish,or not? Is she an Internationalist,or not? Is it not a FACT that the creators of modern Communism, who took the social ideals of the Irish and created Communism, were primarily Jewish, and that because of their unique history,a large percentage of the Jewish population of every nation in the world  Internationalists?

:thatsright: Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov was Russian. :thatsright:

:thatsright: Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili was Georgian. :thatsright: And was on the cusp of purging Jewish people when he died. :thatsright:

:thatsright: Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev was Russian. :thatsright:

:thatsright: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not think Mao Zedong, Kim Il Sung, Ho Chi Minh, and Pol Pot were Jewish, either. :thatsright:

There were ethnically Jewish leaders in Socialism - including Marx himself - but their ethnic background was irrelevant to their philosophy and politics (except, possibly, as a rejection of their ethnic culture).
