Freedom Caucus' Mo Brooks Slams AHCA: 'Massive Republican Welfare Plan'

House Freedom Caucus member Rep. Mo Brooks said Thursday he was still against the American Health Care Act — "a massive Republican welfare plan" — even after meeting with such heavy hitters as House Speaker Paul Ryan, White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.

"We have to lower the cost of premiums — and this legislation as it currently exists does not do that," the Alabama Republican told Kate Bolduan on CNN after meeting with the group.

"This is the largest Republican welfare program in the history of the Republican Party," he said. "And we're being asked to vote for it? Ultimately, that undermines the work ethic."

House GOP leaders postponed a vote on the healthcare plan, amid opposition from the Freedom Caucus and moderate GOP members — and despite intense lobbying by President Donald Trump.

President Trump ready to 'move on,' pressures Republicans to vote on healthcare bill on Friday

Under heavy pressure from the White House, House Republicans plan to move forward with a vote on a controversial bill that partially repeals and replaces Obamacare, despite lingering concerns from both moderates and far-right conservatives.

The message being transmitted from President Trump was that he's done negotiating, and that if the bill fails, he's prepared to walk away and keep Obamacare in place.

"We have to have a vote tomorrow," Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., told reporters after a GOP meeting on Capitol Hill on Thursday, describing the message being conveyed by White House officials. "[Trump] expects it to pass. But he's moving on if for some reason it didn't."

Collins also said, "Trump is pragmatic. If he can't get the votes tomorrow he will never get the votes. It's time to move on. "

Report: President Trump Forces House Vote Tomorrow on ObamaCare Repeal and Replacement

President Trump, through OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, has demanded the House of Representatives vote tomorrow on the current bill for ObamaCare Repeal and Replacement.

This directly calls out the UniParty structure of Washington DC.

The time for endless political talk in circles is over.  Time for action.  The Koch Brothers wing (House Freedom Caucus), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce wing (Ryan/GOPe), will have to vote to support the Health and Human Services construct of Tom Price, or kill it by voting against it.

President Trump, VP Pence, Speaker Ryan and HHS Secretary Tom Price gave it their best shot.  If it fails, the onus is on the voters to change out their GOP representative.

♦  Unfortunately, this means the Trump tax reform proposal will be far less than otherwise could have been included because ObamaCare tax revenues/expenditures will have to be considered in any tax reform as an embed in the current revenue demand.

This approach will further expose the UniParty as the Republicans who voted “no”, and by consequence support ObamaCare taxes, will now hypocritically try and propose tax decreases.  Their hypocrisy gives them a futile voice.

♦  To highlight this UniParty hypocrisy, President Trump will then move to present a full budget removing $1.15 trillion from spending, and those same no-vote republicans will demand more expansive government spending.

The UniParty hypocrisy will stand in the sunlight.
It needed to happen.

Since you are one of the unabashed #AlwaysTrumper on this board, what is your opinion on POTUS telling Congress what to do? Wasn't that one of our complaints about PBO? That he bossed around a co-equal (in all truth, the Congress is a SUPERIOR, but definitely at least equal) branch of government?

He isn't telling them what to do.

He has laid out his position on the matter.

He is just telling them they are on their own and will get no more support from him.

HUGE difference from obozo telling Congress "you will do this" and "you will do that" like he was the boss b/c he didn't understand his role.  Eventually he heard the laughter in the response and knocked that shit off -- it only took him 7.5 years to learn.
