I'm actually in western NY. Fortunately missed the worst of it, only down about twelve hours. It's why we have the wood stove and a spring out back, this happens quite often, especially in the very rural areas.
I was a line clearance trimmer at one time in my younger days, a lot of power outage problems in a wind storm are exacerbated by people who won't let their trees be trimmed. Routine trimming, while you may not like it, or it may not look good, will greatly increase a region's odds of keeping power in a windstorm.
