Great Barrier Reef declared dead at 25 million years old.

?quality=90&strip=all&w=664&h=441&crop=1

The Great Barrier Reef has been declared dead by scientists at 25 million years old — bringing an end to the colorful life of the world’s largest single structure of living organisms.

The incredible Coral Sea wilderness, which stretches for roughly 1,400 miles over an area of roughly 133,00 square miles, has finally succumbed to bleaching.

Oh n03s! Whatever shall we do? Apparently, I had one bulb (a nightlight even) that was still incandescent, and it seems that single bulb killed the ENTIRE reef.

Even included a link to Snopes where it was debunked. The post still stands.

We do need a fake news alert button. Confirmation bias isn't just for Republicans, sadly.

24. It's a tactic I've seen time and again, and I think it's deeply counterproductive.

Hyperbolic bullshit in the cause of furthering environmental awareness does NOT create new environmentalists; rather, it causes people to be more likely to consider all environmental warnings bullshit.

I worked with the Rainforest Action Network in the 80s-- I remember one piece of breathless nonsense I would hear repeated as gospel "scientific" truth; "Planet Earth will not be able to sustain any life more complex than a cockroach, by the year 2000"

Obviously that was not the case, was it, fellow cockroaches?

A similar scenario took place several years ago when people said the Himalayan Snowpack would be gone in a decade, or so.

The problem with this 'approach' is, it does not cause people to go "OH MY ****ING GOD I BETTER DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW" which, I presume, is the intent- rather, it makes them throw up their hands and even worse, when they discover they were lied to, to not take any environmental warnings seriously-- like, yes, rainforest depletion and global climate change ARE real problems that deserve serious attention.

Same with ocean acidification and warming.

Anyone else hearing about a thousand air raid sirens going all at once?

"I appreciate the fear"? What kind of... I know they live in constant fear, but they actually enjoy it? There's crazy. There's insane. And then there's the moonbat.

No, you primitives are stupid all by yourselves.  As our exposure of you, day-after-day, every day, proves.

Fake EnviroCrises have been the strategy of the Enviros since at least Rachel Carson and Paul Ehrlich. Aside from those significant quibbles, WDM has it right. I recognized the pattern in the late 70s or early 80s and regard anything/everything the Enviros excrete as probable equine excrement (plus or minus the specific species of origin).

In reality, all liberal/DUmmie/democrat tactics are counterproductive as far as I am concerned.  If a liberal/democrat is professing concerned about something, I figure the concern is dishonest in nature and a ridiculous attempt to injure civilized decency.  That way, I have no problem with anything to do with you DUmmies.

Do not fret, DUmmies!  I have a simple plan to recreate the maybe/maybe not dead reef:

1. All DUmmies commit suicide en mass

2. DUmmie bodies get dumped into a huge pile out in the ocean somewhere

3. DUmmie meat gets picked clean until nothing but a huge pile of DUmmie bones remains.

4. DUmmie bones become anchor material for new coral reef!!

We can call it the Great DUmmie Reef.

Now, which one of you DUmmies wants to put your money where your mouth is and be the seed dead DUmmie that gets the Great Dummie Reef ball rolling?

The best part is nobody even questions the 25 million year old great barrier reef meme.  The truth is the reef is approximately 8,000 years old, about the same age as the Great Lakes.  DUmmies and the AGW people like to claim that the earth is a static place that never changes, but anything currently on earth is just a blip in the earths life cycle.

Indeed.  The Pristine-Earthers are pretty astounding in their stubborn ignorance.  They're fully convinced that the earth had perfectly clean air and perfectly clean water from the moment it was formed until sometime in the late nineteenth century when an evil capitalist farted and that ruined everything.

I've got a few LED bulbs.  Two of them are outside, and one of them has the bulb broken off--but the LED inside still burns brightly.  The other one is a green bulb, for being veteran-friendly (there's a few houses with green bulbs on exterior lights in my 'hood).
