Spicer: Trump Says Transgender Issues Not Federal Domain

White House Press Secretary Sen Spicer on Tuesday said President Donald Trump believes transgender student protections is "not something the federal government should be involved in," Politico reported.

And according to multiple reports, Trump has reportedly approved a plan for the Justice Department to rescind guidance to schools that allow transgender students to use the bathroom with the gender they identify with.

"The president has maintained for a long time that this is a states' rights issue and not one for the federal government," Spicer said during his Tuesday press briefing. "So, while we have further guidance coming out on this, I think that all you have to do is look at what the president's view has been for a long time, that this is not something the federal government should be involved in, that this is a states' rights issue."
