Who'da thunk that John McCain would become one of my heroes?

Why??? Because he was the first person, that I heard, anyway, to speak out on national TV to point out that attacking the press is the first step toward dictatorship.

This thought has been swirling in my head for weeks.... how we're sounding more and more like a 3rd world country. I hope we can figure out ways to fight back. But I'm not sure we can... The one thing that gives me hope is that we, unlike these dictatorships, have an alternative identity. We were all taught about the inscription on the statue of liberty, "Give me your tired...."

I long for the days when the GOP was mostly a very misguided but (I thought) well motivated opposing political party. Not a collection of ignorance. I wait and wait for more GOPers to say "enough!!"

Well, whoop-whoop-whoop-de-doo.

With all due respect to John McCain, who was my party's standard-bearer in 2008, and for whom I almost voted for the Republican nomination in the Nebraska primary in 2000, he's only a senile old coot now, hardly worth any hero-worship, even from a primitive.

People change over time.  I offer the examples of the first George Bush, the sparkling old dude, and Minnesota Moses.  They were once quite different than they are now, and the comparison isn't a favorable one.

There comes a point in the lives of all of us that one becomes old and disoriented, and one can't take us seriously any more.  The mike_c primitive today, franksolich tomorrow or maybe next week.

THIS is why the left and the media, birm, have no credibility with decent and civilized Americans. Nine years ago Juan McCain was worse than Hitler and Mussolini combined. I'd put Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot in there but leftists love those multi-million murdering tyrants.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

McCain has spent every second since 2000 trying to keep his name in the press.

I can't believe that President Obama drove this country further off the cliff than any president in my lifetime, and not a single peep out of McCain.  Now, we have a president trying to get things back on track, and McCain can't keep his mouth shut.  I'm a little disgusted I voted for him in 2008.

McCain's been back-stabbing conservatives ever since he lost the 2000 Primary to GWB. Having his revenge, McCain-Feingold, smacked down by the courts didn't improve his disposition. And he probably blames conservatives for his loss in 2008. I was disappointed that the people of AZ didn't ballot-box retire him in this year's primary (not that CA's voters were better!).

Well, that's what Johnny has been working for since he got the nomination - acceptance by Leftist Democrats.  Congrats, John, you dipshit.

It beats hell out of me why the press should be exempt from an official or anyone else in the public eye from holding THEM accountable for their BS, it's obvious none of their fellow 'Journalists' will, since Brian Williams and Dan Rather are still considered professionals instead of being destitute outcasts, as they deserve.

He has his nose so far out of joint, I'm afraid he might pull a Specter and switch parties.  He lost all sense of perspective when his mommy died.

Which is  why the 2018 Senatorial races are so important.  There are several current RINO's who I worry might bolt the fence on any given day. (Stew Collins, Graham Cracker and of course Juan McLame to name three off the top of my head).   :argh:

Is Alzheimer's setting in for John McCain ?

Quote
The mood and personalities of people with Alzheimer's can change. They can become confused, suspicious, depressed, fearful or anxious. They may be easily upset at home, at work, with friends or in places where they are out of their comfort zone.

What's a typical age-related change?
Developing very specific ways of doing things and becoming irritable when a routine is disrupted.

John is feeling left out of things.

Oh, probably any Conservative who's been conscious and sober for the past ten years.

FIFY.

Actually he was no more horrible a Conservative than Bush between 2000 and about 2006 (At the latest).  Bush was a pretty horrible Conservative, but at least an establishment Republican of the times - enamored of cheap Mexican labor, unable to confront Democrat bullshit head-to-head, convinced of the mystical power power of democracy to sweep fanatical Islamic barbarian states off their feet if only one pesky autocrat was removed, and only willing to defend Second Amendment rights to the extent necessary to look marginally better than the Democrats' confiscatory views.  It was around the end of that time he started being Hitlery's best pal and climbed on the global warming band wagon.
