74 Percent of Californians Want to End Sanctuary Cities
« on: January 23, 2017, 04:09:37 PM »
Roughly 74 percent of California residents want to see an end to sanctuary city policies, according to a poll by UC Berkeley.

The issue to end sanctuary cities in the state crosses racial and party lines, with 65 percent of Hispanics registering their agreement, while 70 percent of independents, 82 percent of Republicans, and 73 percent of Democrats feel the same.

During President Donald Trump’s term, sanctuary cities could see a cut in federal funding and pushback from the Department of Justice under likely Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The magnitude surprises me a little, but CA passed Proposition 187.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

====================================

Considering over 50% of the entire population of California is Mexican (most of those 1st and 2nd generation, excluding illegals) it does come as a wakeup call for somebody.

But certainly nobody in Sacramento.  They will never end sanctuary cities unless physically forced to do so by the Federal Government, while enforcing Federal immigration law(s).

It's probably seems a weird thing to Libs & Progs, but people who jump through the hoops to immigrate legally are less than appreciative of those who disobeyed the law in coming here.

What really surprises me is this poll was put out by UC Berkeley and that they released the results.

No. He's saying that people who did it the right way are not happy with those who didn't. If I had spent all of the time and money to legally immigrate here, I'd be pissed at them, too.  People raise hell if you cut in front of them in the checkout line at the grocery store; just imagine how infuriating it would be to have someone jump you in the immigration line.

=====================================

In unison between the California State government and the US Federal goverment, by not doing a g-damned thing about enforcing immigration laws, they have essentially transformed the entire state of California into a colony of the government of Mexico.

And Californians are not able to do one g-damned thing about it.  NOT ONE.

Up until Trump's election that is.

Texas just cut off funding to sanctuary cities, and that is because the Texas governor is working for the US citizens of Texas and not the illegal aliens of Mexico.

California is not like that.  Sacramento works for the government of Mexico and illegal aliens from Mexico, and not its own residents who are US citizens and want to stop illegal Mexican immigration, but are powerless to do anything  about it.

Wait and see how Trump handles California.

I heard this morning that California has the biggest income inequity of all states in the nation.  A big reason for this is the poverty they have been importing from south of the border in the form of illiterate peasants who are doing the work of the states super rich.  Many of these rich are liberals, who then in turn whine about income inequality and demand an increase to the minimum wage.  It's put the state into a death spiral.

Exactly! I don't understand how H2BM got from what I posted to what he suggested I meant. My grandparents immigrated to the US from Russia. Legally, >10 years before the 1917 revolutions. Virtually my entire career my coworkers have included legal immigrants. So while I don't have the feelings against line-cutters a legal immigrant might have, I've been around lots of people who did it the right way, and see winking at illegals as an insult to those who did it the right way.

You just described to a 'T' the socioeconomic, demographic and political reality that has caused California in less than 25 years to go from the most desired place on earth to live to one of the least desired places to live.

Trump will challenge that with the border fence, enforcing immigration laws, and punishing businesses who hire illegal aliens.

Pretty simple stuff.  Always has been.  The country just has never had anyone stand up to the progressive oligarchs who protected and ran it.  Republicans included.

Think Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.  John Boehner's two handymen.  The Chamber of Commerce is NOT happy.

One-third of Californians support Calexit
posted at 3:01 pm on January 24, 2017 by John Sexton

One in every three California residents supports the most populous U.S. state’s peaceful withdrawal from the union, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll, many of them Democrats strongly opposed to Trump’s ascension to the country’s highest office.

The 32 percent support rate is sharply higher than the last time the poll asked Californians about secession, in 2014, when one-in-five or 20 percent favored it around the time Scotland held its independence referendum and voted to remain in the United Kingdom.

California also far surpasses the national average favoring secession, which stood at 22 percent, down from 24 percent in 2014.

The magnitude surprises me a little, but CA passed Proposition 187.

Yeah, but President Trump probably isn't far off in saying (again) how he'd've won the popular vote without all the millions of ILLEGAL voters.  And 90% were most definitely in California, the arguably MOST hostile state in this nation towards beleaguered, patriotic AMERICAN CITIZENS.
I fear until the CA swamp is drained, a commonsense approach to life such as Prop. 187 would be utterly defeated.
Sneaking into a country doesn't make you an immigrant any
more than breaking into someone's house makes you part of the family.

Gov. Jan Brewer had to suck it up when she tried at a state level to enforce the US/mexico border as it related to her state of Arizona with SB 1070.  Then President obama stated that immigration is a Federal matter and sued to prevent Arizona from enforcing the border.

Now with Trump in office, the governor of California has stated that he will protect those in the state illegally and fight any Federal attempts to enforce immigration laws in the state.

It seems that liberals want it both ways.  When their guy is in office, they say Federal law trumps state law.  When the other guy is in office, they say state law trumps Trump (<< see what I did there).

Brewer had all her ducks in a row, and was 100% on firm Constitutional and legal grounds.

She not only had to fight Obama, bought also had to constantly pull daggers out of her back stuck there by John Boehner and Mitch McConnell.
