one of my sisters called me earlier today to tell me how her phone is suddenly bringing up contact phone#s from eight years ago and her FB acct is acting weird. She was also planning to go to DC for the protests with her daughters but in light of news that violence is more likely than not from the likes of OKeefe and others, they decided they'd not get in the middle of that. This is wise since we are also facing the prospect of not having access to medical care after being injured in that mess. Glad they decided against it.

but I agree with her arguments of what ifs that need to be contemplated such as...

What if:

the disruptors block the subways making it impossible to get to the protest location?

the disruptors start a riot and shit gets ugly fast and then they can't go back home because martial law or something?

They are all professionals and would be taking all the time they can afford to go there for a peaceful event that could take weeks to get out of if they are thrown in jail for rioting even if they weren't.

I was in DC during some ugly protests during Nixon and I would not want them to see that, because I half expect some kind of ugly of that type. Billy clubs and rubber bullets break teeth and bones, tear gas can blow your arm off, as happened to that girl at Standing Rock recently (some of my acquaintances were there for that and witnessed it).

And I also see whatever happens on 1/20 will set the tone/be a precursor to what lies ahead for we the little people. I can smell it like the stench of a dead cow from way over here in Montana.

Oh goody goody goody; I can hardly wait.

Does one suppose we'll really get to see billy clubs and rubber bullets and broken teeth and broken bones, tear gas, arms blown off.....?

All I know is that most federal agencies have twitter feeds and they are monitored constantly. It's really easy to send a link from DU to any of them.

Yep.  You can count on it as sure as the sun rises in the east.  Gabby Giffords shot? It was some right-wing wacko spurred on by Sarah Palin, except that the guy was a Leftist anarchist.  Movie theater shot up?  Guy was a RWNJ, except that he hated Bush and campaigned for Obama.  Bill Sparkman, a Census worker found dead by hanging in Kentucky, was obviously a victim of right-wing hate groups, right up until the point that it came out that he actually committed suicide.  Bush-hating kook who flew his Cessna into an office building? He was a right-winger according to the press, too.

The list goes on and on and on. You can count on it every time: a Leftist commits violence, and the media will immediately blame the Right.
