You know, watching this really stupid brouhuahua over the nomination of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) for U.S. Attorney General yanks the memory back to January 2001, when a bunch of special interests and poverty profiteers were protesting the nomination of John Ashcroft for the same position.
I dunno what their bitch about John Ashcroft, a nice guy, was, as I didn't hear the audio of the television, but I caught the video capturing the image of a really sour-looking woman who was apparently the right-hand man for the main guy (from the poverty lobby, not any legislative body) opposing the nomination.
Yikes. This woman was so bitter and sour and negative I couldn't see how it advantaged any group to have her as their spokesman; she repelled.
So now, apropos of nothing really, I'm wishing Trump would've tongue-in-cheek nominated John Ashcroft for Attorney General, Donald Rumsfeld for Secretary of Defense, Richard Cheney for director of all the intelligence agencies AND the Internal Revenue Service, and of course my pal Vladimir Putin for the U.S. Supreme Court.
