We desperately need to heal the divide between left and right if we are to stave off disaster. Polarization on this level is tribalism and is going to lead to civil war. And I don't just mean in the US. I am willing to admit that we here on the left are in our own liberal echo chamber and don't want to wander out of it. It's cozy here with others sharing our views and beliefs. I agree I have come to hate the opposition to a scary degree. But I don't know what to do but hate as so much of what the GOP echo chamber amplifies is violence, xenophobia, aggression, might makes right.

I was just on what was formally a small liberal Facebook anti trump group which was invaded by a group of Trump supporters. So I started to click through the Facebook feeds of the various Trump supporters posting there and even for just a few mins I came away feeling sick. The unifying messages that most seemed to show on their profiles revolved around violent nationalism, aggressive blind patriotism, one person had a picture of him wearing the American flag while he stood on an Arab flag, it looked to be the old flag of Iraq. Various others were friends with many others showing Facebook shots of themselves decked in military regalia showing off their gun collections. Many had angry public posts against liberals etc etc etc...

Gun collections!  Flags!  Military stuff!!!   Angry against liberals!!!

It's all good, and I'm still mulling over the graham cracker primitive's suggestion that Trump name Vladimir Putin to the U.S. Supreme Court.  I'm not saying I'm for it, but I am saying I'm thinking about whether or not it'd be a good idea.
